Windows 7 or Strata?

I think the major thing is if Linux had the backing that Microsoft have then we would all be happier. Microsoft will take any opportunity to exploit the market with their ridiculous prices and they do not deserve the publicity that they have.

Imagine if Linux saw the interest and financial backing that Microsoft have right now...I really think we would have a faaar better Operating System than Vista/XP/Windows7 combined.

In my opinion Microsoft have lost the plot completely with what an Operating System should be. Sadly Linux are starting to do the same as they try to amaze with eye candy and uniqueness just to get a piece of market share without realising that their core "selling points" were stability, security and speed and of course Open Source (but mind you I would not mind paying for Linux if it were better...but I also would not spend thousands like Microsoft force us to)

All Ubuntu really needs to do is stop the flash and dazzle and concentrate more on user friendliness and rebuild it's stability because I too have had some seriously F'd up Linux issues without any cause on my part. Ever had an Ubuntu update totally screw up your graphics to the point that you can't even see and troubleshoot on GUI? Try have a Linux noob fix that one!!!!! and I have seen it with more than one user and PC.

The Linux community are very busy trying to be like Windows and that is totally wrong. Linux could outcompete Windows so easily if they just used their heads.

I love the concept of Linux and I love using Linux and don't get me wrong...I am busy doing my MCITP.

All l33t Linux people are wrong when they say you are noob when trying to fix Linux issues. We are not all command prompt geniuses...command prompt is not the way to go for Pete's sake. Did you ever imagine Tom Cruise in Minority Report stuffing around with command prompt FFS!!!! holy shyte!!! get a clue and please Ubuntu start working on the solutions!!

I think using your pc without Bling would be seriously boring!. Sure some people can live without it, and some cant! - I can't!.

However i must agree with Jonny Two Shoes - The stability and preformance of the OS is most important, then add the bling! ;)

I love windows over linux - no doubt about that. however, as far as i'm concerned, Linux needs to do better to wow me over!. Command prompt and stupid names like SUDO is a real turnoff!

Who invented the command DIR or findstr, that person must be shot! That is really stupid, Microsoft must come up with better names than that to make me want to use them. :D

Command prompt was very much the thing in those days - Microsoft has very much moved away from it to simplify things. These days if i'm with a client and type CMD and go clacking away i get weird looks from the client - sure it makes you look good, and CMD has its uses - but for linux... eish! it prevails!
So as for going back to Command line with linux - its a pain! I'm sure for the Linux boys its a way of life and they're used to it by now, but for the average Joe... Its almost 2010 - Its time command prompt becomes a thing of the past, it aint 1983 anymore!

The terminal in Windows and Linux are so far apart it's not even funny. If you go to people tending to servers and other highly technical services on a Linux machine (which is the majority), chances are they will have the terminal running in full screen mode.
Any proficient Linux user knows how to go about things via terminal. In Windows it is not necessary- the GUI's capability is as minute as the command prompt.

Outside the Microsoft hospital

Think iPhone with a Vista logo. [/QUOTE said:
ha ha what could be worse... and agree while Microsoft is busy recovering from what must have been their most disliked OS since millennium edition Linux and open BSD is slowly but surely maturing at its own pace. Eventually it's desktop interface should be streamlined enough for all the Microsoft simpletons to use. Cause everyone that ever used (take note not play with pretty cursor but who are familiar with the bash shell) will tell u, once u felt the true power of Linux/BSD/Unix there is no going back:D;)

I've felt the true power of Linux... So powerful that its pissed me off, but i must admit i give it far too many chances, and still give it a good go from time to time - maybe in a few years time when Linux grows, i'll agree with your statement ;)
