Windows 7 sales beat Vista

Windows 7 sales trump Vista

Microsoft has claimed ‘fantastic’ sales for Windows 7 and denies opening backdoors

MS claims this with every single launch.

The real issue is whether Windows 7 will make inroads on XP users which is beyond natural hardware attrition.

Will all those Vista OEM customers who upgraded to XP gamble that Win7 will outperform XP on their "Vista" ready hardware?

It won't BTW.

Win7 runs respectably on my laptop, better than Vista for sure, but XP flies, since I don't use aero, IE8, or WMP, I'm sticking with XP until I get a major hardware upgrade.

I have an older 486 laptop with Windows 3.11, it is hell fast with windows 3.11, maybe you want to buy it, since you are into retro hardware and software.

I already have a Sinclair Spectrum, and my 386DX40 gave up the ghost a long time ago (frankly win95 killed it)

You seem to miss the point. My Laptop runs Vista, it runs Win7, it will even run the 64 bit versions of those OS's.

It however runs XP much faster than either of those two. Which means better productivity and better gaming. I don't need the pretties, I need performance.
