Windows 7 users are taking their time upgrading to Windows 10

Since 2017: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsde...g-high-dpi-experience-gdi-based-desktop-apps/
And I think in end of 2018 they started having Windows "guess" if needed. I haven't had scaling issues in a long while now. If you're still using legacy apps, you might run into an issue, but I haven't had a problem in a very long time.

If you're saying higher DPI screens have problems with sharpness, definitely not, the issue is low DPI main display and different size on others.

There was also an issue with Java based apps only respecting the ratio on the monitor that it was launched on, that got solved mid 2018 or so, IntelliJ had that issue.
Windows 7 was a lot worse in that regard. You can run ClearType on low dpi large screens, still works.

Lets just hope linux finally does the unimaginable and finally properly competes with windows at some point. ATM LM and Valve seems to be doing the only real work on that end.
If Vulkan can get it right most titles will be cross platform. The biggest issue has been the APIs.

Completely missed the point. Go read through those links I provided and try and understand what the actual issue is.

I have Win10 on my laptop for work, Edge doesn't keep its settings & mp3 tags for flac gets cut off, WTF!

Microsoft just cannot get it right, I'm honestly waiting for Win11 before upgrading my home pc, history shows they only get every 2nd release right anyway.

The other issue is the bulk of the "linux community" insisting on some kind of open source puritanism. PPA's, AV's and anything remotely proprietary is EVIL..... thankfully they have begun to be outnumbered in recent years, I have noticed people other than me starting to refuse to take that kinda nonsense though I remember basically fighting the fight alone on some forums a few years back. Most of the sensible people on linux seem to historically have been very timid.

Cut off? How? In a specific app?

Actually all things considred I think 1903 IS win11, it's essentially to win10 what win7 was to vista, also they are now bringing service packs back.

I read through them, where I could as many of those links link to other places that are dead. All of those complaints are 2013-15 with smidgen from 2017.

Get me something modern, 2018 or newer.

Going to upset the apple cart

Only switched my home PC from Windows 7 to 10 this year.

And I won't go back to 7.
You know what they say: once you've gone 10, you'll never go back. (Something seems to have gotten lost in the deracialisation of this idiom )

If you used a win7 key then yes.... you can never use that key to activate win7 again.

Not quite true. I had Win 7 Ultimate, that I updated to Win 8 years ago (small payment was required for this update). I then updated 8 to 10 Pro during the free period.

A while later, I built up another PC, then thought long and hard about the cost of an operating system. I loaded Win 7 from the initial disk and it activated fine. I then updated it to Win 10 and it also activated s Win 10 Home fine.

Switch to the beta version of Edge, which is based on Chromium and is far better. You can change which desktop Edge browser you sync bookmarks with in the mobile Edge app settings.

I'm not aware of issues with FLAC or other lossless formats in Windows 10. Sounds like an issue with the software you're using.

Yeah don't be that guy.... don't actually use Edge.

It's still Edge, it still carries the M$ stigma.

MS stigma?

Office 365 is possibly the best value subscription available. The latest Office apps are snazzy. OneDrive integrates amazingly into Windows 10, which itself is pretty good. Most of the MS Android apps are good quality. The Xbox platform is made awesome by Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Azure is an excellent hosting environment.

I really don't have any issue with MS at all.
