Hi, I have grub bootloader on one of my laptops with win 7 professional but want to remove it. Now the thing is I don't have the disk anymore(stolen during break in) but still have the key for it. I do however still have my stolen laptops win 7 home disc.

Can I use the win 7 home disc to repair the bootloader on the win 7 professional or do I need to create a new one?

IME it is just less effort and simpler to reinstall the computer with the broken bootloader. Otherwise you need to fiddle with a DaRT disc and format boot records - nasty business if you don't know what you are doing.

Create "Recovery Disk" and then run bootrec.exe /FixMbr from the command prompt.

Step one: Click Start > All Programs > Maintenance > Create a System Repair Disc

Step two: Insert a blank CD or DVD into your disc drive.

Thanks guys, I asked my it department if they can lend me a disc and they gave me one to do the recovery so sorted now. Thanks

I think you can run fixboot and fixmbr from your windows installation too, might be worth a try
