The 8.1 update went fine on the quad-monitor desktop, completely without incident. One reboot and all was done. Nice to be back on 8.1 (after canning the too-early "RTM" version on MSDN from August). The old Asus W5F laptop also updated without a problem.
HOWEVER, the two HP N40L Microservers running 8.0 can't update to 8.1 - there's no driver for the onboard LAN. Downloaded without incident, but during the installation the little HP's both hang at 39%. Shutdown and reboot rolls back to Win 8.0. Then tried disabling the onboard network adapter on one mini-HP and using a Belkin F5D5055 USB network adapter, but that didn't work either and installation hangs at 25%. Very irritating as I like to have everything at the same level (sure sign of techosis).
Eish man. I have more than one machine to update and I do not have super-fast uncapped internet. Is there not an ISO somewhere to download once?

The enterprise version won't get the update. Now I've got to wait for the ISO that MS made available on Technet to appear on Pirate bay.
