South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
That's one reason to close them.
I hate to think what will happen on a network with all the files left open simply because users can't close the app. Never mind apps which have a limited number of concurrent logins.
But then maybe Microsoft doesn't see Windows 8 as a business user product.
You'll also find the power button on bottom right of the good old CTRL-ALT-DEL screen (accessible in either Metro or Desktop).Alt f4 while on the desktop brings up shutdown/restart/switch user.
Agree, there's no denying MS's strategic intent is to push Metro (i.e. succeed in the tablet space), but consider why there is a full open to all "Consumer Preview" long before actual final product launch. The comments here are quite critical: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/03/03/andrew_does_windows8/
The registry begs to differ.
As Per: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageIndex\Product
- Windows 8 Enterprise Edition
- Windows 8 Enterprise Eval edition
- Windows 8 Home Basic Edition
- Windows 8 Home Premium edition
- Windows 8 ARM edition
- Windows 8 Professional edition
- Windows 8 Professional Plus edition
- Windows 8 Starter edition
- Windows 8 Ultimate edition
Heard about all the different versions they will be releasing - 8 different flavours of Windows 8, seriously? Why on earth would you want to confuse your customers with so many different options. In my opinion there should only be 3 versions:
- Windows 8 Home
- Windows 8 Professional
- Windows 8 ARM
This is one department where OSX wins major points by keeping it simple.
guys what is the Serial Key on this thing? :wtf:

That doesn't make it suitable for business. It just means that the product will be released in those versions. The problem isn't a technical one. It is a usability one.
In its current form I predict that there will be minimal corporate take-up on the desktop.
Just use torrents. More reliable, each 2MB block is individually checksum verfied & resent if required.I'm still trying to download , it stalls at 1.7gb. Think it wasn't meant for me, oh well.
Well it tells me they will have a version dedicated to business use, so its highly possible that there could be a version that is totally stripped of the Metro interface for business use.
that would seem a waste of all the development time
Please note: that the ViStart setup tries to install Babylon toolbar or IncrediBar and Registry Cleaner Pro software during the product installation. If you are not interested in the toolbar, uncheck install Babylon toolbar option before moving to the next step. When you see the Registry Cleaner Pro screen, simply click decline button to install ViStart without Registry Cleaner.
