Windows 8 sees lackluster debut

very interesting, Win 8 is my first purchesed copy of windows i own....so is few of my friends

I would hardly call 40 million licences in 2 months "luke warm".

There is probably 2 numbers that needs to be addressed here.

1: how many people bought it.
2: how many people went back to 7

I for one own 2 copies and my PC went back to 7 after the 1st month. (older games that seized to function was my problem)

Windows 8 is awesome. I would take it over Windows 7 any day, even if just for the task manager.

Im curious what game seized?

Odd Dragon age works perfectly fine for me.

Was complaining on my PC, Also had an issue with Aliens VS Predator. was not in the mood to hunt the problem so I re installed Windows 7. I have a feeling most of my problems where driver related. That is also why I do not say Windows 8 is bad, just that right now Windows 7 supports my needs better with less hassles. Will most probably go back to 8 in a year or so.

Also the recent crack to allow homebrew made it better for what I want.

It could also be that corporates or businesses are sceptical of the Start screen modern interface owing to its content consumption qualities rather than production.

IMO, Win8 is more for the consumer than it is for the enterprise. However, with the adoption of tablets by 'innovator' enterprises like a lot of the fortune 500s, which are testing out and buying iPads, other corporates will soon follow as Win8 seems like the better OS for modern day business that iOS or Android since Win8 has more the productivity factor than the other two.

Its really cold feet by enterprise.

What is awesome about Windows 8, except for your new task manager?

I honestly would like to know, as I couldn't find anything.

Doubt that windows 8 is going to do any good...

The avarage Windows user is not a tech geek. Windows 8 probably scarez the $$%%%### out of non-technical users because its a radical change from the conventional. Most people just want something that works so that they can get on with the business of life... They don't like major changes... especially when it comes to technical things like computers.

What were M$ thinking !!!#??!!?

The performance and resource usage. It's faster, much faster (even games) and your battery on you notebook will last longer. Also you get some awesome apps and games in the store!

Yes. We should stop inventing and innovating immediately. We've got everything we need and it works, so we should avoid changing it for the better at all costs.

:wtf:

+1
There is a training departmnet in each enterprise to train the non techinal users of the features they need.

You might feel your desktop and start screen is a bit faster, as it's running Windows 7 Basic (Aero is off).

I did an experience index test with Windows 8 & got a worse score than with Windows 7.
