Windows 8 sees lackluster debut

You might feel your desktop and start screen is a bit faster, as it's running Windows 7 Basic (Aero is off).

I did an experience index test with Windows 8 & got a worse score than with Windows 7.

It doesn't just feel faster, it is faster: http://www.zdnet.com/windows-8-vs-windows-7-benchmarked-7000002671/

There are already marked improvements, and as said in the conclusion, it will still take the GFX card manufacturers a while to fully optimize for DX11 and Windows 8.

Frikkanor, every Windows version is faster when it is launched or freshly installed and then they all become slower and slower. One can tinker with registry cleaners etc to improve things but I serious doubt that the benchmarks we see now will mean much after a few months of usage and software evolution. It is for sure not much faster than what I experienced with Windows Seven ... but, and this is the BIG BUTT ... it is FUGLY. As Al Debo said: "Môre is ek weer nugter, maar jy bly lelik.".

Lol, yea look the looks is a matter of personal preference, there's not much anyone can do if you don't like the look of it. Personally I do.

The thing is though these benchmarks were done on fresh installs of both 7 and 8 (otherwise i agree they would have been pointless).

At of the end of the day (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) you will need to start using it and you will need to get used to it, as they are most definitely not going back ;)
