Windows 8 upgrade version conundrum

Pretty disappointing of mybb just taking groupon at face value instead of doing this research beforehand..

Mother**** I suspected as much. Same error on 2 PC's (same ISP).

Which ISP's don't use MTN now? Need to buy 1GB pre-paid I guess now

At what point on the upgrade process did you get that message, i got to the point where to enter my bank details and i didn't continue but do you only get that message after that?

Not first time. Seems a pattern now... Think free international proxy..

No it's immediately after you click Next after it shows that your hardware is comaptible etc;

What ISP are you on?

Is this the same steps with the upgrade product from Groupon? Or with their product it is just popping in the DVD run the upgrade?

I'm sorry but I refuse to believe MS is so commercially stupid that they would not release a retail version of W8. Although they are not good okes, they still managed to build a massive company. No company would ever restrict users of competitors (Linux etc) from switching to their own, or how else do they gain market share?

I know some aspects of this have been covered in this thread already, but if MyBB had applied there mind to this article before they published they surely should have realised they were publishing BS?

Certainly, if MyBroadBand was an IT news website with critical journalists as opposed to a press center/news aggregator.

All in all, it's a massive joke. I bought the special, read that it was an upgrade version, requested a refund, only to be told that perhaps it DOES allow you to do a clean install?

Microsoft continuously indicated that Windows 8 was extremely important to them, strategically. Well, they're certainly handling its introduction really well. Good job on that. I'll now be sticking with Windows 7 for as long as I possibly can. In the meantime, Ubuntu and Linux distros with a consumer-orientated development focus will be getting better and better, and by the time I need to upgrade, who knows - it might just be at the level to do most of what I want as an average user.

Not sure.. I suspect the Groupon is just the boxed/physical version of the R299 detail from Microsoft.. I may be wrong.

Message as just after Checking comptibility.

Confirmed it was STUPID AXXESS / MTN line

Using Open Web I can go further.

MTN you fail!

Incredible Connection are selling the full Windows 8 but stocks are limited. Included in the box are both 32 and 64 bit versions on DVD.

Begs to question why it fails with MTN and not with IS.

Does it give you the option to download later? Or does it send a product key? I want to buy it now but download it tonight

Gives you the product key then proceeds to download. No offline save option.

ETA 6 hours on 4M line / facepalm.
