Here's my Start Menu, which is a bit dof, cos why use a whole page for a simple menu?

Call me a little sassy, but I really love the Windows 7 Aero GUI....I wish I could get the same aero (glassy, transparant) look on Windows 8.1...I tried a software but that ****ed my Windows 8.1 (had to boot to safe mode to remove it).

When the Glass UI came out with Windows 7, I was in total awe.
Still love it.
I am very interested and excited!!

If you are struggling with navigation in Windows 8, you only have yourself to blame. Options have been available since day one to tailor the experience to your liking. I've set my Windows to boot to desktop and to not show the Modern UI when the Windows key is pressed on my keyboard. Modern UI is not part of my life - I never see it. And my start menu is identical to the Windows 7 one.

What is hard-core about it?
I don't see the need to spend money on a new operating system when my current one works perfectly.
But since you are stuck on Windows 7 you are welcome to test it and give a review.

I think you mean Metro UI
Microsoft has only used the word 'Metro' internally for years now.

One of the main reasons I still use it. Slick! Win 8 feel like an unfinished Beta IMO.
Must admit. I always used to be first in line to download the latest Microsoft OS's even if it was an Alpha release. But, now I'm no longer bothered. Windows 8 killed my Windows spirit
Growing older killed my spirit

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Windows 8 looks and feels a million times better than 7. This unfinished look just appeals to me, and plenty of others out there.

I love 8.1 and the start page. Took me 2 weeks to get used to it. Everything is so convenient. You type what you want and its there. Instantly. And I only got a HP Pavilion i3 and it feels like a monster.

Actually loved my wife's windows 8 laptop with touch screen before the screen cracked
