Windows gains as Apple's Mac dips

I'm not really surprised. I know a lot of people who previously had refused to upgrade from XP to Vista that are now wanting to upgrade to W7.

So does this mean Microsoft won't need the internet tax anymore, as proposed by their esteemed Chief of Security?.

I upgraded my work pc this week - yay yay. Now I just need to save up for my home pc's

I had XP ... skipped Vista ... bought 7 .. love it !

It's a 0.1% increase for MS and hardly something people should be trumpeting after the dismal failure that Vista was. A polished t-rd would be better after Vista and since Win 7 gets bundled on all new PCs and laptops (even most netbooks) it's hardly surprising its sales are increasing.

OSX is at 5% but seeing as how Apple is not out to compete with Windows 7 or XP, I don't see how that marketshare is relevant. In other news, sales of Tata Indica cars outperform sales of Mercedes Benz CLK500s.

I still use XP and had I not used OSX before, I'd still be loving it. Win XP is ok if you can lock it down and I see no need to upgrade to Win 7 and spend R3K to do the same thing I've been doing, slower.

Thanks Alastair Otter (the author of the article) for giving us hyperlinks to the external articles/sources. Hope to see more of this in the future!

snow leopards are rare but theres cattle on farms everywhere ;)

I actually hauled out cash for Win 7 Pro!

I ran the RC (Ultimate) 64 bit until last week & bought the Pro 64 bit retail just before the 2 hour shutdowns started.

I've always loved both Windows & Linux & still do ... but I must admit that Win 7 is seeing a lot more of my time than Win XP did.
