No. MTN have not even distributed their stock to the branches. Its not a case of them running out of stock. And there is already a thread about this going, without actual stock numbers ordered its difficult to ascertain if its really a super high demand.
 
Is it just me or are all South African articles that I am reading on the Lumia 920 just not getting the details right on Nokia's imaging technology.

My understanding is that Optical Image Stabilization is not what enables the camera to take good pictures in low light.

I understand PureView to be the following (in any combination):
- Optical Image Stabilization (available in Lumia 920 and not in Nokia 808),
- Image oversampling (available in Nokia 808 and not in Lumia 920),
- Low light sensitivity (available in Lumia 920 and not in Nokia 808) and/or
- Superior quality videos.
- And perhaps something else I left out or something that will be announced / introduced in future.

My undestanding is that OIS is not what enables the camera to take good pictures in low light. The low light function is enabled through technology within the lens itself and not through the springs around it that stabilize it. Or am I wrong?

The other thing is, does Vodacom give the map for LTE coverage yet? I know there is a map section but mine shows nothing when I access it on my browser. Does anyone have a link that shows actual coverage. If so, please post it here or post a link or picture showing the areas in Johannesburg that it covers.

I would appreciate the help because then I just might make up my mind whether to jump ship from MTN because R399/mth on Anytime 200 as the cheapest option just doesn't do it for me. I just can't justify that to the wifey. :(

The OIS allows the camera to take longer exposures, which results in the low light prowess. You're right it's been really badly covered by the tech press. They're too busy fussing about that extra 40g which makes the phone impossible to lift or pulls their pants down, apparently :) Heaven forbid they had to carry a wallet or something heavy like that!
 
I must say, R7,800 without a contract on launch for this phone is pretty reasonable relative to its competition ala Samsung GSIII and iPhone 4S. I am quite sure the iPhone 5 is going to be way more expensive.

That's only if you get it from the Vodacom World shop though. Otherwise it's closer R10k or R3k more expensive than the GSIII. I think it's extortionate given that the networks are meant to be trying to introduce this platform in the country.

No idea why they're charging so much - it's R7200 if you have a business contract with Vodacom... it just seems petty ripping the general public for R2k more, when they keep posting record profits.

MS need to bend over for some Chinese manufacturers like Android have to get their footprint increasing.
 
Seems like it's becoming more expensive to own a premium smartphone through Vodacom.A year ago it cost me R450pm to acquire an iPhone 4s and with it I got 120mins talktime + 20 mins free week-end mins,100 sms and 500MB of data.That blows anything Vodacom has to offer under their new smart standard contracts.

Please address this issue. You have now written two articles with the R369/mth TopUp option with R135 airtime. Someone in the last article pointed out that VC say there is no such contract.

Today I went to my local VC shop and they told me that the lowest TopUp they have is TopUp 200, which is R479/mth.
 
Cash Prices are insane, good thing the nexus 4 isn't coming here or else it would decimate those prices
