+1 All I want these days is to be able to sync all my data from one device to the next without having to think about it.

It is good to note that current WP phones will get a SW upgrade which will include some WP8 characteristics, particularly the look and feel. And WP7.5 apps are compatible to WP8.

Another great thing is the integration of Nokia maps into the whole MS ecosystem. How is this significant. It means Samsung, Huawei and the other OEM will be paying Nokia for the use of maps on WP8. This actually makes Samsung a good business partner of Nokia.

It is starting to look great - IMO.

Now for the actual products.

I'd buy a Nokia phablet and a Surface.

And how about this - a cross between a phablet and a Surface ala Samsung Note (i.e with a keyboard/screen cover, which you flip back to make calls). It would have the power of and work like a laptop, it would also be possible to use like a tablet and would not look awkward to make a voice call with.

Interesting times.

You mean like iOS

On that note I have been playing around with Windows 8 on my notebook, even though I had to do a couple of tricks to get it to run properly and it now looks a bit stretched out because my native resolution wasn't high enough it still is pretty cool. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the best OS microsoft has produced. If my notebook was a proper laptop or even a high end tablet I could really see myself owning a windows 8 device in the near future.

Android + Google already does that?

All I do is log into a new phone and Mail/apps/Contacts/calendar come across to the new device. All can also be accessed via the desktop. In fact if I wanna update a contact on my phone all I do is update the contacts in Gmail and all 3 my phones will have the exact same information the moment I hit enter, and if I want to run my Android Applications on my desktop I just double click on the icon already on my desktop, thanx to BlueStack.

So all and all I can say is "Hi Microsoft so glad you can join us in the 21st century"

TL;DR (We been having it)

Windows Phone 8 will be the watershed moment for Microsoft....expect sales to pick up heavily.

The consumer will once again be king.....I foresee a lot of innovation, design and funky features coming to the iOS, Android and Windows platforms in the near future.

True but I don't use gmail or IOS our work environment is purely MS. Another benefit with this is apps will also transfer beautifully between the devices.

Actually, WP7 has done all this since launch too. And supports facebook, live, and gmail to do all of it (and combines the stuff from all 3).

Wow guys - I'm impressed. Was expecting a wall of hate like most other WP art

The haters are watching TV... they will come.

Thanx for the update on the WP re sync, Like I said before do not have one anymore. Had a WP7 back in the 7.0 days for about 2 weeks so I am sure loads of things changed since then.

lol - What do you think the whole Metro Apps thing is about? Better go draw that cash and place that order now!

Awesome, I was planning on skipping an upgrade this year and cancel my contract for a while.(Cause my Desire HD is still working as it should) But I may just try this out and get a entry level WP8.....Dammit, bloody tech junky :D

Firstly let me declare that i'm an Android fanboy at the moment, but I've been having it, and absolutely enjoying windows 8 release preview on my laptop and I believe from an ecosystem point of view Microsoft has a winner. If they can quickly, quickly sort out their app store, then maybe, just maybe I will be quickly won over.By the way, a noob question, can some of the iPad/Android apps be "ported" straight to metro app style or will they have to be worked from the ground up?

I don't get the idea MS is too worried about consumers. Since yesterday consumers are forced to downgrade to the bloated Windows Live Essentials 2011, arguably MS' worst-ever messenger application. MS still hasn't gone to the trouble to produce a reliable Messenger app for Android either - and no ways will I get a Windows Phone just for that.

I hope they'll have a decent WP8 phone out by December for my upgrade ^^

Also looking forward to the Surface :D

This is pretty good...

I'm liking the new start screen (what little of it I've seen so far)
