Windows user to Mac - Tips, Suggestions & Apps

Fully embrace iCloud Keychain. What a pleasure!
Keychain works fantastic. Only issue I have is I work on both windows and Mac. I’m using Bitwarden now; it’s a little clunky but at least I have cross platform compatibility. Would love Keychain to work on windows; would save me a lot of pain

I struck it lucky with a 1password license I picked up as part of a bundle ages ago. I'm still using that license, even though they keep pestering me to "upgrade" to the subscription tier.

This is where Apple took 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
I was happy using TouchID for 2FA on websites which complimented Windows Hello, but they didn’t make it clear clearing Safari data also clears that.

Is there a way to cast a Safari tab to a Chromecast device?

I usually stream Youtube Music to my Google Home speaker in the office from one of my browser tabs in Brave, but it looks like this cannot natively be done with Safari, which I am slowly trying to migrate to. Perhaps an extension adds this capability?

Amusingly, one website that I found recommended installing Chrome as a 'solution' to the above problem:laugh:

I don’t understand why anyone needs that Alt-Tab thing thought?

Command + Tab is the same thing and even sits in virtually the same place.

Nothing on that is installed on my machine or seems personally useful otherwise.

CopyClip is what I would contribute though, one of the few third party apps I run.

There’s now a plug-in for Keychain on Chrome/Edge that may get you mostly there.

But yeah I also used Bitwarden when straddling Windows and Mac and it still has the one feature nobody else seems to get right and that’s having multiple URI’s to the same thing.

Apple also struggles a bit with anything that is on the same subdomain which Bitwarden gets.

I’ve noticed that since I made that post. I’ve been using the Keychain plugin on Chrome for a while now and it works pretty well for me. I do most of my browsing on iPad so Bitwarden wasn’t as slick for me.

Yeah and Keychain is going to get even more useful and ubiquitous with Passkeys once more and more things allow for them.

It is truly bizarre that Apple broke window management like this and there are a multitude of third party tools to fix what used to be supported natively.

Every new MacOS it’s the first thing I go check to see if it’s any better now.

Maybe I should try force Stage Manager on myself for a week and see how that goes.

Even more crazy is that I seem to remember they supported “snapping” even before Windows and then for some utterly broken logic reason took it away with the whole full screen kak idea.

I find stage manager works for me cause I always have 1 “desktop” for misc stuff that’s all just there, the rest of them are all fully maximized and I’ve usually got like 4-8 desktops going.

I’ve never like that screen splitting thing, so stuff like rectangle and magnet I find is just not for me. I prefer a touch of chaos in my order.
