hi there

to day my girlfiend gave me a white disc with the words "XP Black Edition" said one of here friends gave it to here to give to me..

anyone ever here about "XP black"

(contains numerous viruses)

Try searching the forum for "Windows XP Black Edition".

Apparently full of viruses (although the harmfulness is debatable) and bloated.

Today, not to day;
Her, not here;
Commas and capitalization would not go amiss as well.

There are things a lot worse than computer viruses that a girlfriend can give you....

As for Windos, its actually funny in a way because of the irony, Windows
until NT was Win-DOS. :)

Yes... it is a bootleg version of XP loaded up with lots of cool software, skins, wallpapers, and total customisation. Very nice looking. It has a few spyware issues, not really viruses (there was one version that had a virus... I think it was verion 7).

It requires a fairly powerful PC to run nicely so don't put it on any old PC.

and just be aware that since it is a bootleg version (no activation) you may run into update issues down the line.

Some guys recommend rather do a clean install of your own XP and then customising it to the same, but then you would have to find all the software yourself.

as was said... do a search on the forum for "black xp"

you should find a couple of threads on it.

I am seriously starting to wonder about this forum as a useful source of information. Anyone coming to this forum after being redirected from Google would need to sift through useless posts like these to get to the useful stuff. This was made even more apparent to me when a recent Google search led me to an N95 forum on which every post was relevant and provided me with the solution I needed. There was no grammar correction or other childish behaviour but plenty of help.

Something to ponder....

To the OP I have not heard of it but I also like the idea of black XP so searches on Google led me to find "Royale Noir". Have a search on Google and see what you think. In fact here you go : http://www.istartedsomething.com/20061029/royale-noir/

Well if people would start actually making an effort with their grammar then they wouldn't have to be corrected every time they post. :o

You're absolutely right.

I bet anyone that needs to search what Windows Xp black edition actually is would format the search as the following: Widoze Xp Blackz in any case.

Something to ponder...

I have no problem with ridicule and humour but that would be better suited to the OT section surely?

I was unaware of the forum rule stating this. Are we elitist? Do you need to have an English degree before you are entitled to post? English may be your first language but it is not everyone's. My view is as long as you can understand what is being said then what harm is done?

There is no rule but just how useful or professional is a forum riddled with very basic grammatical and spelling mistakes going to be?

IMHO if someone is intent on nudging a thread off topic just to point out grammatical errors they are probably not doing a great service to the forum and such activities might be better suited to the more informal areas such as Off-Topic.

I've corrected the thread title to aid in any future searches. :)

We're not elitist and we're not ridiculing either, and I have a problem with both, even if you don't.

Did you notice how I threw a :p emoticon into the mix? I guess that's because I had a vindictive attitude and my aim was to ridicule, mess up google searches and make a joke?

Not really,

As Henry said, it's about making sense, nothing else. This isn't mxit, it's a forum, if you want to type a thread asking for advice, then "try" to do it properly. If you have one hand and 2 fingers, then by all means, type as you like.

So you really think it is fine to have thread after thread after thread filled with the same cr_p correcting grammar and joking without even answering the question asked? If you do not have the answer then avoid the thread. Surely this is the easiest to do?

And I am not sure if you are friends with the OP but how do you know he doesn't have one hand and two fingers or perhaps a mental disorder? If he does does that mean he is not allowed to ask for help?

The guy did not use "mxit" language but made basic grammatical errors (here - hear), this in no way made what he was trying to say impossible to understand.

This is actually a stupid argument as you know full well that posts such as those add nothing.

This argument is adding considerable value to this thread as well.:p

I do not agree.

It is about forumites becoming lazy and sloppy and never correcting their own errors. It makes the whole forum look like OT or even the TK.

If people are coming on asking for help, then the least they can do is make an effort to get their message across in reasonable language. And I do NOT believe this has anything to do with English not being the first language of the biggest culprits.

lets all relax

wooooooooooooosaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

start a thread about the horrible english on this forum in another section :p
