Windows XP Black edition

I do not agree.
Really - consider what has happened to this thread now as a direct result.
It is about forumites becoming lazy and sloppy and never correcting their own errors. It makes the whole forum look like OT or even the TK.

If people are coming on asking for help, then the least they can do is make an effort to get their message across in reasonable language. And I do NOT believe this has anything to do with English not being the first language of the biggest culprits.
Is there anything contained the OP that you did not understand?

That is a direct result people not heeding the calls for more attention to their grammar and spelling and not making any effort in their posts.

I think you know very well that that is not the point here so I am not even going to bother to answer that.

Bwana, feel free to delete all quotes that include the posts I made, I'll start deleting my own posts now.

Edit: I accept responsibility for my own posts.... I'd rather not be included in stupid arguments.

I think HenryJ is eluding to a precedent being set regarding atrocious spelling and grammar, where no effort is made, and many readers switch off to the actual post. I personally believe that it is in the best interest of any thread starter to be as clear and precise as possible, and if that means that they double check their post and maybe capitalize one or two letters, so be it.

But defending a standard that is less than legible at times is setting a precedent that is likely to only go one way - down. Those of us who point out the errors have high standards of which I have always been a fan. If pointing out grammar and spelling mistakes results in 1/10 people double checking their posts, then I call that a success for the forum. And as with any post, forumites are welcome to scroll straight past and onto the closest answer should they choose.

Lets try to kep te standards high IMO...

/End thread derail - apologies...

Off the topic - or rather back on the topic - I have tried XP black and it lasted about 24 hours on my machine and then had to reload....It is slow and irritating and is filled with a bucket load of rubbish - The end

Yes, it is not worth the effort. A nice, clean XP SP2/3 install will perform much much better and be no hassle at all.

Combine it with something like Windows Blinds and you are left with a XP setup the looks the same, if not better, than Vista, minus all the bloatedness and incompatibility issues that plagues it (I'm referring to less mainstream applications here - especially some of the IDE's and development packages I am forced to use on a daily basis).

Edit - Forgot to mention that nLite'ing XP and stripping out all the unrequired fat in the form of multiple language support, etc. (There are loads of nice guides on the web that can help you to do this without ending up with a broken installation), can result in a nice, lean, fast OS. Definitely worth it, if you have the time.

Yip, that is what I have. Plain old XP SP2 with Windowsblinds so it looks as good as Vista but works as well as, well, XP :)

messugga i have seen windows blinds in action and let me tell you man, it does not compare to vista

only ppl who refuse to go over to vista will go on about how close it gets to vista, vista looks polished as if aero is suppose to be there, windows blinds you can see its a fake version

although if you have never used vista i doubt you would notice it because you have never experienced vista, so for the okes who have not used vista its awesome

I tried going back to xp using lastxp which looks similar to xp but omw i hated it

you can dress up like a Lion but it does not make you one :p

You have obviously been using the wrong version of Windowblinds then.

Mine looks just like the Vista my gf has on her laptop, only it does not hang, does not take an age to load a simple explorer window and is fast and responsive.

Ja, I have never kept a running version of it. I don't like bootlegged versions.

I think part of the attraction of it was all the pirated software.
