I wonder? Must they? IMHO XP still have some life left, I do not see huge companies switching to Vista en-mass as yet?

Neuve, Belgium. - Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer offered a glimmer of hope Thursday to fans of the company's XP operating system, saying the company may reconsider its decision to stop selling XP soon

Well I'm all for XP staying on the market for a bit longer but even if MS ignores the public and decides to pull it anyway it won't be so bad because then it'll force people to use Vista and see what it's like for themselves. I doubt MS would just stop selling XP if it didn't know for certain that Vista is a worthy replacement.

xp home still has some life left in it, microsoft are using it to counter the like of xandros on the eeepc, at a reduced price, possibly until 2010 (depends on when windows7 is released, but ja)

XP Pro has life in it... I want it on all the workstations at my employer, just 2/3 of the PC's are still using 98 :( but that's only because we don't have the budget to just get XP Pro licenses.

look xp cannot die due to slow laptops not being able to handle vista

something microsoft is well aware of but does not care about

I hope that Windows XP won't be killed anytime soon, makes it less likely that people will be forced to move to Windows Vista because they can't get a copy of Windows XP.

Doesn't matter either way imo. If they discontinue XP then people will just switch to a pirated XP.

Don't think Dell etc will use pirate copies.
They get their copies from MS, if MS stop the supply...
The dell deal is based on this extra XP license you get *along* with Vista. I doubt MS will stop that...unless the plan to make Vista sales tank even more.;)

Dell are talking about making an image of XP available on the Hard Disk, and they will probably use up their leftover stock of XP licenses.... or the Vista downgrade license would apply.
