Hey all,

Just formatted my pc and everything is back on track, except my Lexmark X7350 that doesn't want to connect to the PC.

When I do a manual installation, it stops at the screen where it tells me to switch on the printer, but it doesn't go further. The box is grey, hence it still doesn't detect my printer.

1) The USB cable is 100%
2) The USB port is 100%
3) The other functions on the printer works 100%.

What can the problem be?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

try unplugging it and replugging it in

my hp does the same thing with my install, sits on detecting printers for hours then i decide to pull the plug and put it back in and the pc detected it

I've tried that several times, even after a restart it doesn't even detect a USB device connect (with printer connected and being switched on). :(

does it detect other usb decives just fine?

reformat and try again or manually install the printer in add printers and see if it works

It detects the camera, flash drives and all external hard drives, even swapped the USB cables...

When I go to add printer, my printer model is not listed. Choosing a random one, has no effect.

I will take to to a friends house and just have a look.

Maybe unstalling all the USB drivers and loading them again?

thats never worked for me considering that the usb is working i highly doubt it would work because windows just loads the same driver

the only thing is to test it for damage if there it works on other pc's u need to format if its still not working then i dunno man :)

buy hp next time lawl

Okay so I have taken the "working USB cable of my external harddrive, still nadda.

But what is interesting is when I use my printer's USB for my hard drive, it tells me "USB device unreconized"

Could my USB cable and my printer be damaged by lightning?

P.S My on board sound card also stopped working yesterday...

Yesterday afternoon, only one lightning strike. :(

But now only do I see the damage...

Router, decoder, tv and Hi-fi works fine...

How could only my on board sound card and USB cable be damaged?

Random question, have you tried to get the latest drivers for it>?

XP SP2 is full of bugs and its bloatware. Install Vista. :)

My printer had a similar problem during the install, the detection always seems to have problems. I think a reset or cable switch also did the trick as with Killa.

My HP does that aswell when i swap the cables around between my ext. dvd-rw and printer ( lost one cable so thats why i swap em ). What i find is:

1. If the printer is on and then the cable goes in, windows does not detect it so i switch off the printer then plug it in and switch on ( usually works )

2. If that doesn't work for me, then i usually find that under "Printers and Faxes" my HP's setting is sitting on "offline" so i just right-click and choose "Use printer On-Line".

Go into --> control panel --> system --> Hardware --> device manager --> unversal serial bus devices.

then delete all of the USB devices and do a reboot.

If it does not detect your printer after that then either the cable or printer is damaged or both.
But test the printer on another pc just in case

The drivers I have, gave no problem when I installed it 2 months ago. Windows doesn't even pick up a device when I switch on the pc or the printer.

Go into --> control panel --> system --> Hardware --> device manager --> unversal serial bus devices.

Thanks, but tried it on 3 other pc's aswell, but no luck.

It's a four in one, is it possible for the lightning to only damage the USB port?
