Windscreen wiper blades

This.

my Fiesta uses a 63cm main blade. and a few years ago the yellow boxed durablade was 60cm. then i found for R79 at checkers Hyper a black boxed Durablade which was 70cm.

Best Wiper blade i've ever had. i should've bought a few.

What happened to them? I've tried and failed to find more.

I went on such a hunt for them - verimark stopped supplying them a few years back... found the company that apparently made originally... but was such a mission to try organise delivery etc... so I've just got my old blades still... I really wanted to just get blades that I can slot into the existing metal frame ...

If you come right - let me know please man

Hahaha, i just gave up hey, still with bosch. I cant say I'll go around testing all sorts of wiper blades, I get the conditions, hot then cold will definitely degrade the rubber. Maybe I'm still stuck on bosch because I use their brake pads and they work pretty well for me.

OK :) well Bosch is not bad. They doing good if you ever interested in trying a different brand I know Champion started doing wiper blades. Champion is an american brand you see their filters in the market for some years now. Recently started coming in with engine oils and wiper blades.

It is good to have competition within the different brands it brings down the prices for consumers :)

Man, I miss durablades...

Still get them. They are now sold under the manufacturer's name not the Verimark name/brand. It's called Problade Wiper blades.

My personal experience with wiperblades was that the Bosch or other brands blades was not much cheaper than the originals from the Agents (WV). I got pricing from Midas and Goldwagen. The Bosch tended to last a year and started to have problems before the next winter season. Purchased the OEMs from WV 2 years ago and still working well.
I read an article once where it stated that the OEM blades tend to be made of better quality materials which made them last like 5 years whereas the cheaper blades tend to last year or 2. So far my OEM blades are over 2 years old and still working well.

original quality is always much better you are 100% the material is so much better than the aftermarket. The thing with Bosch and all these brands is they need to compete so they find that middle ground material where quality isn't compromised as much and remain competitive in price.

I think because of the value of the wiper blades the difference will seem too small to be of a big difference. But when you start looking at stuffs over R500 like brakes/clutches agents tend to be crazy priced :) Also not to say maybe Midas and Goldwagen are overcharging, is also a possibility.

It's a hit and miss unfortunately. I have found them at a Midas in Pretoria though.

Brilliant - will try go on the hunt - report back if anyone finds them please

Just out of curiosity is there a need to go through all that trouble to try find it meanwhile there is so many brands out there with similar technology. A lot of the things now are all mass produced from maybe the same or similar factories.

Wouldn't hit and miss be the same as trying a different brand and see what happens? And it is like R100 items which guaranteed even the worst of quality should last 1 year minimal.

So the issue I have is that my one wiper blade is small than the other - the blades I found at the shops are the "full" thing - ie the metal frame and the wiper blade, which are the same length.

So I'm specifically looking for just the silicon blade part to slide into my existing metal frame...

Dealership wipers for my Honda were like R600 so I could get a new pair of Bosch every year at that price.

You do know that VW does not make wiperblades (they were actually produced by Bosch back in the day - not sure who makes them now for VW)

All the wiper blade brands should be just the blade parts where you hook it onto the wiper arms. What shop did you go and what did they offer you?

As I know nobody really sells the wiper blades complete with the arm since the wiper arms are car specifics so it won't work well stocking every single car model. You just need to measure your wiper blades and ask for wiper blades according to the length. They normally measure it in inches just do a google conversion. Most new cars are different length on the passenger and driver side so you need 2 different sizes.

Got Champions and they are not great.

After that I got Bosch for my wifes car and they are much better - get them at any Midas

Oh damn that is a bad sign, I never tried it just my supplier started promoting it as a new launched product, thanks for the heads up that means I don't need to stock the Champion wiper blades then :) I guess will stick to stocking Bosch as it is also one of my suppliers brands.

so it didn't have the arm - it had the metal frame ... as opposed to just the actual silicon blade.

Tried a few places, builders, midas, mica, makro - they all had the same product....

So if I remember correctly, the one is 24 inches and other is 12... the dura-blades / proline blades come as just the silicon blades and then you cut it to the needed length and slot it into the existing metal frame...

If any of that made any sense! haha!

I am aware that they don't make wiperblades. When I needed to replace my blades, I called around to get pricing. That was end of 2015 and I eventually paid R328 at VW, which was slightly more expensive than at Midas and slightly cheaper than Goldwagen (or vice-versa).
I am curious to see how long they will eventually last.

Oh sorry misunderstood you there. You mean to say you just need the silicon part and not the metal backing that holds the silicon. But either way should work? With or without the metal backing? Or you saying your wiper blade metal frame backing can't come off your car?
