Who in their right mind loves winter? I hate this thing with a passion.
I moved from PTA to Harties side and last year was our first winter and it was brutal.
I just do not understand people wearing shots and stuff during this time.

Anyway, for those who hate it like I do, what activities do you do pass time until spring?

I love winter, you don't feel sweaty all the time and can huddle on the couch when watching tv

I am the guy who wears shorts and t's all year round

Summer is horrible for me, I cant stand the heat, anything above 20 degrees and I feel like i'm in an oven

^ This.

Plus my ancestors are from Scotland so it is our natural habitat.

I used to love winter. I am on the fence now. I still wear shorts even during peak winter especially when weather not too bad but tracks/jeans other times.

Standard activities really. I haven't been very active during last few winters but hoping I will change that this winter. Plan to do lots of outdoor activities and keep doing exercises at home when it is too cold. Plan to do some indoor climbing along with son.

Is haarties winter as bad as Jozi ?

I mean JHB had temps of 29, 30 this weekend so sure evenings and mornings are chillier but this is great weather.

As an aside, anyone been to Sun City this time of year? Have an opportunity to go this weekend, temps looks like 24, 25, more thinking about the water at Valley of the Waves.

I lived in JHB south side for about 4 years, but I think survived. I suppose because I moved back to PTA 10 years ago, I got used to PTA weather and now it is unbearable.
I think Harties is a little extreme. Summer is also hotter than PTA

I hate summer. Prefer cooler winter. If I feel cold I can put on a jacket. In summer during the heat waves there was almost nothing I could do to cool down most of the time. It sucked. I want to live in a city where the high temp does not go over about 26 degrees.

Its great, no muddy bikes and running shoes....I love a nice morning ride in winter with the frost catching the morning sun and your breath burning your throat..

It might be cold but up on the highveld its pretty much just going to be sunny with a wittle bit of wind...

Why I love winter.
First and most important. There are no flies and mosquitos.
No better sleep than in the winter.
Almost never sweaty and sticky.
I don't really drink coffee in the summer, so in winter I can enjoy a cup in the morning or evening.
Must say I wear shorts only 365, but now I get older the legs do get chilly some mornings.

Edit and ants are also minimal.

Me.
Sleep easier. Warm blankets and cold air, it is the best.
Home gym is cooler. No need for fans or AC.
Coffee just tastes better the colder it is. Morning coffee on the stoep when it is cold. The best.
Easy to warm up with more clothes, not easy to cool down with less clothes.
PC Gaming room is nice and cozy obviously by heat coming off the PC.
Also quieter in mornings because it is cold, no annoying people about making noise.
Also, no flying insects.
