Howzit guys, hope you can help me.

I have an Apple Macbook laptop with which I connect by wireless to my home Telkom Mega 100WR ADSL router no problem. However, if I try to connect to the same model router at my bf's house, the router allows me to connect to it with username and password, but it won't let me access the internet. His son (and a house guest yesterday) has the same problem, but with a normal Windows laptop.

I have called Telkom several times who blamed the ISP who blamed Telkom who then blamed Apple who say it's the configuration of the router which doesn't allow enough IP's or the DHCP setting.... I have NO idea how to change this (if it is in fact the problem?), neither Telkom or the ISP can help either.

Anybody out there that knows what's going on? In layman terms?

Thanks!
Trisha

if there are more than one pc connected can you see the other pc's on the network and access the pc's on the network???

Wrong username/password combo would not assign and IP or allow browsing but it would look like you are connected

@KillerB
These are home pc's, there is no network. Just one main desktop pc with the router connected.

@PsyWulf
The username and password are correct because when we enter the wrong password in error it tells me that it's wrong.

Then go ahead and turn off authentication and see if it works bright one

Way ahead of you sunshine.... did that already

You neglected to post the results of every test you performed,so I can't be bothered with this anymore. Playing catchup with smartaleccy newbies just to confirm every setting to be correct isn't useful in the slightest and only serves to be an irritance.

Go to the doctor and ask for a diagnosis based upon "an itch somewhere" to confirm this method of information gathering is cumbersome

Sheesh I thought people come here to get help - especially socalled "newbies",

The authentication test is the first thing the ISP said to try. I would have expected your presumably superior knowledge had concluded that the simplest tests would have already been done. Your arrogance supersedes your clearly limited knowledge and English.. "irritance" is not a word.
