Wireless connection speeds: 54Mbps & 144Mbps

Hi, I wonder if someone could explain this for me.

When connecting to my router via wireless on my netbook (Telkom account), my connection speed = 54Mbps.
So now I am capped and trying to utilise my 30 GB local.

When I then also connect to Afrihost to use Intl the connection speed = 144Mbps.

I'm not sure if I just haven't noticed this before or what?

My wireless (Telkom) still shows 54Mbps, but the Afrihost connection at the same time and via the same on-board wireless device shows 144Mbps?

No relevance as you are limited by your ADSL Router 4 Mb/s download and 512 or 640 Kb/s upload speed.
Purely the WLAN side of your Wireless DSL Router
