wireless help needed

Hi

I have one switch that has my telkom router and 4 home computers plugged into it. I want to beable to share my internet with a a neighbour . There is line of site. What sort of gear would I need to share my dsl with neighbour?
What would I need to buy and how do I configure something like this.

Im am a total newbie with networking. Help would really be apprieciated

What sort of distance are you talking? You might want to have a look through the various adsl sections here - its been discussed a few times now so you might find something to get you started.

Yet it's a surprisingly valid one. The guy's come to a technical forum for help where there's a strong DIY/get involved/*learn something* culture. So the sooner he gets from the idea of (at least) learning to search, the better for him. That said, I'm also in favour of actually helping out a n00b, instead of just smacking 'em down with an RTFM LART- that approach hurts our culture more than it helps.

Back to Gurr- dude, more info man! The Techie Way is ALL about the data (the more the merrier!) So, you're gonna be better off in terms of getting help with your problem as well as getting your head into the right place to find the info you need.

Search first, right. Since iv been planning to get a diffrent adsl modem, I was thinking of getting a adsl/wireless router with a wlan port, then plug in a directional .

Neighboard will need to get a wireless card and a antena if needed? right

20-30 metres is easy, access point and a wireless network card thats all you will need, the standard antennas will cover that distance. You could even get away with just 2 nics and forget the AP, but an AP is always good to have.
