hi guys please could you advise me to a good wireless mouse which im looking to purchase.
i have an asus laptop with vista business and would appreciate your advice

many thanks:)

Get a cabled mouse:
No stupid batteries to charge, no silly reciever to plug in. :P and no lag issues.

If you still want a wireless mouse, maybe have a look at the logitech range? Microsoft also has a couple I think.

I have a microsoft wireless mouse and love it. Battries last 3-4 months and no lag.

I don't get why people are always claiming lag on wireless mice/mouses. 30cm @ speed of light is like 0.000001 sec extra lag.

^every little bit counts, time = money and those 0.000001 seconds add up eventually ;)

Eventually is relative. The time it takes to play 5 rounds of COD is too short. But then again, perhaps some people like to surf the net in bed etc :P

um, doesn't blue tooth run slower then speed of light? but even if it was hitting the speed of light, wouldn't that be faster then the electron going to the pc?

And doesn't the lag mainly come from the receiver and transmitter rather then the actual speed of the data(like the time the mouse takes to encode the info, then send it and then the receiver to decode and then send to pc)

No...its all radio waves/infra red/electro magnetic waves. Its not *as* fast as light....but for lag purposes is so close that it doesn't matter.

Light will be slightly faster than the electrons going through the wire....but again, its so fast that it doesn't matter.

Good point. I'd think Logitech would have kept that in mind when designing it though. Also, electronics can be mad fast. Just think of a CPU running at 4ghz. Thats a clock cycle every 0.00025 sec....and thats with a very complicated piece of tech.

Hell, the screen refresh rate is *way* more of a problem ito mouse lag.

Either way, I'd call BS on any lag claims with wireless mice. There is lag...but to claim that it is discernible to a human is BS unless its a defective mouse/interference.

The best mice you get are Logitech. I can really vouch for them. I use a Logitech gaming mouse now and then (cabled). Wireless is good, but sometimes a cabled mouse is preferred for instance in gaming.
But on the wireless side of life, have a look at the ~R400 price range of Logitech mice. Don't buy M$ if you can buy Logitech.

Hey, before you discredit me, i'm not wrong, just didn't state all the parameters :D

oh, with regards to the receives and such, the better the wireless mouse, the better the tech, and the more efficient the receiver and transmitter are. so when you get a really cheap wireless mouse, it might have times when i will disconnect or the mouse will take a lil time to move the arrow :D

All the parts of your post that I quoted were phrased as questions. I answered them to the best of my ability and wasn't trying to discredit you. Apologies if it sounded like that.

I use a Logitech MX1000. Its battery is built-in... Lasts about a week of heavy use, before you need to charge it overnight, or whatever. I've had it since it came out (which was about 2.5 years ago.) And it still works like the day I got it.

There is no lag. I'm one of the better public-server COD4 players.

If you aren't going to play FPS games competitively or semi-competitively, then honestly... It's been about ten years since you've had to worry about anything like lag.

The mouse is heavier than most, but you get used to it.

I don't know how good the Logitech G7 or Revolution are, but they're successors to the MX1000, so I would guess that they're at least as good, if not better.

You definitely have to buy Logitech. I own the MX Revolution and the VX Revolution. The best two wireless mouses (mice?) ever produced. Can't believe I ever lived without the new fly-wheel they feature, absolutely awesome! Have never experienced ANY input lag! And I do game a bit. The VX uses AA batteries and I haven't replaced them in the few months I've been using it. The MX is rechargable, which is no problem since it stores so neatly on the charger that I have never run out of power.

My advise: unless you are a VERY serious gamer, never consider a wired mouse, and NEVER consider anything else than Logitech.

Actually I prefer Microsoft hardware I have their wireless desktop and a wireless mouse for my lappy. I use to be a Logitech fanboi but the MS stuff is more comfortable and better priced.

Be different: I use a wireless Apple Mighty Mouse. No problems and packed with features not available on a typical PC mouse.

Yea, Logitech tends to be a bit pricey, but I think its well worth the buck. I do 99% of my development in Linux (mostly ubuntu), and find the logitech products quite cross-platform compatible...The same doesn't count for M$, as we all know..

I guess at the end of the day, especially with these peripherals, its 80% user preference, so go over to a store and feel them in the palm of your hand. Beware of cheaper options like Labtec, got one as a gift once and it connected once every ten times you move the mouse.
