Hi,

Tried to stream a blueray rip (.mp4) from PC to Ps3 Wirelessly, and encountered hectic stutter.

Read on the PS3 forums that because my router is Wireless G, it's basically too crappy to stream the HQ Blueray, and that Wireless N is required. Apparently Sony also nerfed / borked the .mp4 streaming.

Is it worth it buying a Wireless N Router (which one as well), will this help with any other speed over the network? My laptop also has wireless N card.

Alternatively i just copied the file onto the PS3 and it played perfectly.

So:

1) Is it worth it buying an N router just for blueray streaming, or will it help with everything.
2) Is there any other benefit to a Wireless N router over my Wireless G.

Thanks in advance.

Wireless N has a higher bandwidth than Wireless G. For normal streaming of .avi, .mpeg, .mp3 etc then Wireless G is more than sufficient. Wireless G from 54mbps to 108mbps in superG mode with most dlink routers and cards. Wireless N Ranges between 150mbps to 300mbps which is perfect for streaming blu ray rips in 720p to 1080p. The best ones that you can try are: D-Link DSL-2740R, Netgear DGN2000 (Best for blu ray streaming), AVM Fritz!Box 7270.

ummm is the PS3 Wireless N enabled? Surely that would be necessary for this all to transfer at the faster rate...

Couldnt u just plug an ethernet cable from router into PS3 then? Isnt that what they are suggesting now?
(sorry, i have no idea since i have never owned and hardly used a ps3 :) )

Yes you could, but my ps3 is miles away from my pc.

And yes the Ps3 is Wireless N.

Good plan, except the same applies - telkom point is miles away from both ps3 and pc, closest being pc, so its there.

Good suggestions on the router, had a look at the D-link, and its only just over a grand.

Thanks - think i will just upgrade cos i can.
