Wireless network problems..

This is driving me nuts so hopefully someone can help me here...

I am running a wireless network at home. I usually have it setup on WPA-PSK with TKIP encription.

I have a desktop running Vista Enterprise addition and can connect to the wireless network no problemo. I have just got myself a laptop that is running Vista Home edition and cant connect to the network...

Now the weird part is that if I remove the enription and just leave the network 'open' I can connect with my new laptop no problem! As soon as I set the router back to the above setting I cannot connect anymore. I have tried everything I know, I have copied the exact settings from my desktop but still not working. I dont want to leave the network for 'open' for obvious reasons.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
 
Try using WPA-PSK AES (works for me on 2 different notebook brands), also try channel, 6,9 or 11 ;)
 
Try running something other than Vista Home, it's the worst piece of half completed watered down screwed up operating system yet from Microsoft.

Not since Windows ME has there been such a fundamentally messed up OS. I'm completely convinced they designed it in such a way to drive you to either a) insanity or b) upgrading to premium/business/ultimate/linux :p

MS Windows Vista Home = EPIC FAIL!

Thanks for the help guys. 'Quick' are you saying that I should rather install Vista Ultimate on my laptop instead of Vista Home? I like Vista and never had any problems with it on my desktop.
 
Try WEP encryption for your network. If its similar to the problem mentioned in the previous thread then this could fix it

Thanks. Gave that a try, it connects to the network but 'local only' so no internet...

No, I would not even recommend Vista for laptops. The service pack was supposed to focus mostly on issues with laptops performing poorly with Vista, but it doesn't seem to help much. Vista Ultimate runs terribly slow on Notebooks, and last one I worked on was a HP 8510w, so not even a case of entry level hardware.
