Hi guys

I recently got a new laptop which has a wireless nic. My current setup at home is a Netgear 4 port hub and a Netgear DG632 ADSL router.

I've had a look at the following two wireless routers:

Any of you out there who have either of the following, please give your recommendations as to which I should go for?

I just have my desktop PC and now my laptop on my network, so it's pretty basic. How do wireless networks affect online gaming performance in terms of latency?

Thanks in advance. :)

Can't give you any advice in the gaming aspect of your question, but in terms of router - I don't think you can go wrong with Linksys. But maybe there is some advantage in having another brand for gaming.

+1 for Linksys (Wrt54G*L*).... Have a look at the features offered by the latest version of DD-WRT!

The L in WRT54GL indicates that it is Linux Friendly, so make sure you go for that one!

Would you guys mind posting a bit of a "how to" regarding the installing of that DD-WRT firmware? :)

Exactly which files must you download from their site? And then what is the procedure for installing the firmware?

Hey guys

So I got the WRT54G, but I'm have a very noob question to ask:

Do I still need to use my Netgear DG632 ADSL "modem"? It would appear so, but I was under the impression I could just use the WRT54G. In other words, I thought it was an ADSL "modem" too.

Have I got it wrong? Does the WRT54G not actually connect to the internet? Please help. :)

The Linksys WRT54GL is just a Router (with excellent features), you'll need to set your other router (netgear) into Bridge mode so it will act as the modem and let the linksys do the Routing, you can also try out Gatecrashers script if you have a local & intl account, the linksys can "dial" multiple connections simultaneously as well as route traffic to the correct accounts.

After playing around with it for a little bit, my network is now perfectly setup. The Linksys WRT54G really is nice. :)
