Wits students protest over tuition fee increase

I have no sympathy for the person with the broken leg...

Also reading reports of students brandishing rocks and sticks - super peaceful.

The lot of them involved with blocking empire road should be expelled.

Well I'm telling you that he's a student. It was also tweeted by one of the news publications I follow. If you don't mind trudging through tweets from five hours ago I'd be glad to give you a list.

And you'd have to be living under a rock to not know about this protest.

Actually no.. you just have to not be paying attention to the news and studying hard for your degree to not know about this protest. Just because you know about it, don't assume that all students do.

Read that rock and stick report hours ago too. When they breaking the guys car.

I feel sorry for the injured but not then driver. I actually feel sorry for his bakkie though.

So SammyD, why block the roads if they got their "no fee increase"?
It happens every year.
underachievers don't want to sit exams and don't want to pay fees, so burn the world.

These same ****ers demanding no increase in fees will also demand 20% annual increases if they ever find jobs.

And we should trust you over them, because????

If you want to know what's happening at Wits follow The Daily Vox. They are the only ones reporting consistently. I spend a lot of time on twitter. I know a repeat/rehash tweet when I see one.

Oooh! I'm an underachiever! Is that why I get A's for maths?

They didn't get it. Management was supposed to give the final decided raise today but then decided, "Nope, November guys"

Actually, the agreement signed on Saturday morning stated that management would only report back to the students today on the outcome of the council meeting, not give the final decision on a fee increase.

Nope. They probably started doing what they ultimately ended up doing by overturning his vehicle.

Yeah, but there wasn't only one vehicle damaged, there were multiple vehicles damaged.
You want to tell me they all became pathological murderers on the same day?

I was a wits student for many many years and I remember when there were protests which turned violent that there were always groups of people who joined the protests to cause havoc and break things and ultimately had nothing to do with the people protesting.

They just wanted to fight and break things. That said some of the protestors share those sentiments in any case.

I was a student at WITS from 1988 to 1992 during some of the worst years of protests there ever.
These protests have got nothing on those days.
But yes, it is as you say. Always an element that want to cause havoc and destroy stuff...
Like these guys....
