World Ranking

Egypt no longer deserve that spot. If I remember correctly they got pwned by Niger not so long ago and they still climbed up a place.

Ya, I also found that strange.

If we beat USA and Egypt next year, we should climb the ranking steadily considering their current rankings.

Latest Ranking just released.
SA moved up two places to 50 in the world. Ranked 11th in CAF

No change amongst the top 9 teams, Egypt have come in at 10th.

full rankings can be viewed here http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/lastranking/gender=m/fullranking.html

Glad to see SA moving up, a win against the USA will help, but those 2 Egypt matches next year will be crucial if we are to get back into the top 30.

They still have tons of points from their last 2 AFCON wins.

don't your points diminish over a period of time? weighing less on the scale and therefore count for less?

Yes, but an AFCON finals match is worth 3 times a friendly match, with the same teams. Thus they have lots of points from the 2010 AFCON, and quite a few from the 2008 AFCON. I think that AFCON qualifiers count for 2 times a friendly match.

latest ranking are now available. SA have climbed 4 places and are now ranked 47th. we are making steady progress. before the world cup we were ranked 83th.

Don't understand why Engerland are 6th.wtf.

They play higher ranked opponents more often. They also have the advantage of the confed multiplier, Euro teams get 'full points' for matches, African teams with the same ranking would get less for the same result.

Yip, I did post it in the Bafana thread, but it's still good to see them moving up. A win against Egypt next week will really help.

After the win against Egypt, we should move higher up the rankings. Can't wait for new rankings to be released.

It's a pity that Egypt's ranking has plummeted from the top 10 to number 35 recently. We could have scored mega points had they been in the top 10 still.

Well done indeed...now top 5 in Africa. Wow next stop is top 30 in the world and top 3 in Africa. We belong up there with the likes of Ghana and Cote d'ívoire.
Our number 1 striker 'Killer' must just stop drinking and stop frequenting sushi bars :D

We've moved up two places. New ranking:47

Netherlands are also now the number 1 ranked team :D

You beat me to it, I did update the Bafana thread though. Source:

Sport24

Berne - Netherlands went top of the FIFA world rankings for the first time on Wednesday without playing a match in the last month.

Although their friendly against England was cancelled because of the London riots, Netherlands benefited as previous leaders Spain were beaten by Italy to lose their place at the top.

World and European champions Spain had led for one year.

Bafana Bafana have climbed two positions up from No 49 last month to 47. The team thrashed Burkina Faso 3-0 in a friendly international at Coca-Cola Park earlier this month.

The Dutch became the seventh team to head the rankings since they were introduced in 1993 after Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Brazil's 3-2 friendly defeat by Germany cost them two places as they dropped from fourth to sixth, meaning that Uruguay, who remained fifth, became South America's highest-ranked team.
