Getting worried....

I ordered a few odds from them but this was more than month ago. Logged a few tickets to try and get updates but no luck.

It's so difficult who's reputable these days. There's so many online stores popping up all over the place

Ive used Extreme Shop... Had no problems ordered something for my SE phone but this was a while back and I think I was order no.61 or something ;) I still get newsletters and stuff from them so they seem active enough...

Yeah I get their newsletters too. But xrapidx was talking about PerkalGifts

Ah okay thought so because the BidorBuy link wasnt for ES but for PG... ;) Very well carry on then :P

So... did all you guys get your orders eventually? I'm considering buying some stuff.

I have seen a lot of online SA retailers springing up recently, mostly in the PC business. They advertise products not available by any other mainstream (official/authorised) suppliers.

I took 3 of them to the challenge on an LCD screen they were advertising. I contacted each company and told them I was interested in the product and wanted to know what the delivery time was. Their web sites all said 24-72 hours after order. I already knew this LCD was not available anywhere in South Africa, I even spoke directly to LG about it but anyways decided to try and catch these companies out.

The first email replies I received said, sure no problem 24-72 hours after you send us the CASH. I then replied to each one telling them I had advance knowledged that this screen was not available in SA and the wait time was 4-6 weeks. They all then said they would make sure and get back to me. Of the 2 that did get back to me after that, both said ..... well, actually yeah it's going to be 4-6 weeks.

NOW .... if I had not known this they would have taken my cash and I would have been expected to wait 4-6 weeks or more to get the product.

Then about a week ago when I was having a problem obtaining Corsair memory modules for my new i7 system, I serached around a bit and found an online retailer offering just about every Corsair chip you could imagine and also saying they were ALL in stock. I knew very well prior to reaching their site that there is only ONE official supplier of Corsair memory in SA and they are listed on Corsair's official web site. I also knew that many of the chips they were saying were in stock were not even in the country yet.

I think people must be very cautious these days when dealing with these sites, ask them a million questions and get them to guarantee you in writing before you let go of any of your cash. I have no doubt you will probably get your goods BUT not in 24-72 hours like many of them seem to advertise. Better yet find a reputable dealer and see the stuff in the flesh before you pay for it. I will not mention names, nor am I saying these sites are crooks, I am just saying be cautious about their promised delivery dates.
