Stay Away from Extremeshop - Do Not Buy!!!

Stay away!:(

I can concur MraL !!!

Earlier in the year in this selfsame thread I indicated that I may make use of their services, but indicated that I am uncertain and shared everyone’s scepticism about Extremeshop.

Well, knowing what I do now, I would advise anyone and everyone to stay away!!.

To start off with, what raised my concerns initially with them was the following :

* No Telephonic contact numbers - (You won’t be able to get hold of them come hell or high water)

* EFT or cash deposits only - (No way of reversing your payment - without any direct intervention from them - good luck trying to get hold of them )

*No email communication - you can only communicate with them through the site by opening up a ticket.

As you can see these people will do everything and anything in their power to avoid communicating directly with you - in an easy, prompt and effective manner. *Knock - Knock * - Please go around back.*

They like it for you to jump through hoops.

I kept on viewing their site - wanting to get my "PhotoFast CR-5400 Dual-Slot SDHC MicroSD/TF to MS Pro Duo Adapter "

Finally the status changed of the item - to "ready to order" here I thought that it meant in stock and they will supply it quick, quick.

I placed the order(for 3), sent an email enquiry - to confirm what I thought it meant.

Sadly they responded that it only meant I could buy it.

So my order placed, 12/03/2009, payment made, 13/03/209 - status updated to payment received

After that the status changed to "processing with supplier" - and so it remained for the remaining 4 months it took for them to fulfil my order.

Now what I like is the fact that they refer you to their FAQ for clarification on their status updates on your order and what it means.

It also lists the expected turnaround times.

Only problem comes in when they stop updating the status of your order - "processing with supplier" for 4 months - this despite communication from them indicating that the item was dispatched 28/03/2009 by their supplier.

"To put their turn around times further into context - I have ordered and had manufactured 2 motorcycles (30 order and manufacture time in china and a further 30 days to allow for shipping by sea!! - How long can it honestly take to make and ship a few cards - mm 3 pro duo adapters shipped via sea?"

Did I say communication - it was a response to me complaining about lack of updates and where my items were. I doubt it they would have had the courtesy to let me know either way if not for me nagging.

Oh when they do respond, no thought gets put into the response - they just try to brush you off as they have a set generic response that gets generated( I have the distinct impression that this business is run by some primary schooler to make extra pocket money on the side) in response to your enquiry - I mean if it takes them 3 days to respond to your request the least they could do, is put some thought into it and provide you with information actually pertaining to your order.

Then the best part was them using the post office as their "get out of jail" free card - now I am not saying things don't go missing there - but I am getting the distinct impression that the post office is made out worse and worse because of folks using them as a "get out of jail" free card based on their shoddy rep.

I personally have shipped CPU's - X360's , laptops and cellphones and have yet to lose one item(touch wood).

Ah , Bah Humbug - I ranted enough, not in the mood to go on.

I received my order eventually - delighted with my purchase - it was in working condition.

PS. I am also contacting some of the advertisers on their site - indicating to them - that by advertising with them - they inadvertently endorse these people - lending them some credibility - which by initial perusal of their site most peeps feel they lack.

I decided to use dealextreme.com directly instead of extremeshop as it's cheaper and easier to deal with supplier directly. Still waiting for my Torch, this is the 3rd week after it's dispatched via registed airmail form HK.

keep us updated

I also ordered a CR-5400 adapter... From EBay though. Worked out cheaper, $5.95 incl shipping.
Will let you all know how long it takes to arrive...

These are the estimates I was given:
U.S, Canada, Australia: 8 - 14 working days
UK, France, Germany: 12 - 19 working days
Spain, Italy, Brazil: 12 - 25 working days

has any1 bought a laptop via ebay? just curious about ur experience

Pathetic service! Dont ever buy from these people at extremeshop. Bad service and not contacts. As far as I'm aware they have stolen my money as the dont reply to my support tickets and i placed an order in march and still havent received my stuff. Ive tried to cancel and get a refund yet the dont answer my emails. Any1 have a contact for them?

I ordered my green laser from them :) Superb product. What I learnt is that you have to email them for a response. I won't mind ordering from them again-small items only :)

They have stopped you from being able to email them as the mails gets bounced back and it generates the automated response that you need to log a ticket to get any response or service.

So it's like i said, they try every conceivable way to avoid dealing with you - the customer.

So Stay Away from www. extremeshop.co.za not unless you are a glutton for punishment.

You see, I can get the same product from them for a higher price than dealextreme.com. Good thing I didn't as now my package left HongKong on 15th May to SA, and Monday SAPO told me they have no record of receiving this item in South Africa. If I get it through extremeshop, there's no guarantee I will get it while I need to pay via EFT, with dealextreme at least I used Paypal. So I am not going to loose R300 odd Rand for the LED flashlight that I will never get.

+1 use dealextreme, better bargains there too.

Extremeshop are going to finally sort me out. I think they also own goedkoop. Anyway they say the refunding me after 2 months now. Hope they do.

Placed an order (paid for immediately after placing order) with them at the beginning of June when they were running an "order for R500 or more and get free delivery" deal. Ordered 5 items. Got an email from them at the end of June to say that the order was placed with suppliers. Got my first three items at the end of July, the fourth item was received around the 13th of August and I'm still waiting on the last item.

One of the items that I ordered was a night light for my kid which cost around R80 - but on seeing it, I probably wouldn't have paid more than R20 for it - and after a few weeks of using it, it stopped working completely. I didn't bother to try to notify them or get a replacement, it's less of a hassle for me to fix it myself!

So last month I get an email from them to say that orders had been delayed because of the SAPO strike and that was why I hadn't received my last item, they do realise that the SAPO strike didn't start in June and their 45-day delivery policy was out the window before the strike even began?!

And now a few weeks after the strike, still nothing - not even a status update email to tell me that my last item has been received by them and is being posted to me.

Also they've always seemed to respond to emails sent to prioritysupport at extremeshop coza but now even questions to that address seem to be ignored.

Well that's my rant!

I'd say unless you're just buying things for the fun of it and not too worried about spending the cash, buy from them - else steer clear.
