I agree with mbs. While your financial position may be better than most on these forums it does not mean you should rub it in every chance you get, I can assure you nobody is impressed and certainly nobody appreciates it. This forum was not created as a flame zone, everyone is (supposed) to be on the same side, fighting for better internet and telecommunications services within SA. If that is no longer your intention then perhaps this is no longer the forum for you.

I do apologize for the fact of my financial well-being and the poor context I usually put it in.

But do understand, that everyone wants something for free and tries and abuse something SO much, that that institution that tries to HELP people, closes their doors.

I've seen this happen MANY a time, and I've been through something similar myself. Everyone expect everything to be super cheap or for free, and my friends, it can't be like that, the numbers does not crunch at all.

So, back to my post, if they want ADSL, and can only afford to have 1 measly account without NOCAP, then don't bitch about the 3 gig cap, restrain yourself and use what you have for as long as you have it, and then abuse the local servers as much as possible?

You all know these forums aren't getting us anywhere, ICASA is Telkom's bitch, and the new SNO should have been up and running in 2002 already.

So, to bombard and diss a company that offers ADSL users an alternative to the cap, making useless comments of it being too expensive, or not having the full 55kb/s you usually get on an uncapped line is fruitless and just plain wrong.

At the end of the day it is the consumers who dig their own graves

Fair enough, though you could have put your point across this way to begin with [;)]

With regard to Nocap it is up to Jason to decide where he sets the bar on his products. Something that rings very true is that you can't please all people all the time and if he loses a few customers in order to provide the rest a good service and keep his business above ground then that's what must be done.

With regard to these forums, it may appear they are getting us nowhere but I can assure you we are a nuisance that Telkom wishes would go away. There are some very influencial people here and all them working together creates more than just a small headache for Telkom. Constant pressure, however small, applied over a period of time will eventually yield results.

Consumers don't dig their own graves. In other countries they are as demanding if not more so than we are and their economies are thriving. If consumers didn't demand the absolute best then those countries would be no better off than we are. Here we are only just beginning to shed the blanket of apathy and fighting for what is right.

Let's leave it like this, are you happy paying 5 times more for your internet access than people overseas? If you are then I think you need your head checked [;)]

Right - the more blathering and inane the post, the less clear your message will be, more so if you attempt to dress it in idiotic and less than humourous street-speak that could be interpreted as a personal attack...

As Perdition points out, Jason's facility is a business, which implies the element of business risk, including the loss of dissatisfied clientele - this is normal, as is consumer pressure for an optimal service at the lowest cost. It is _abnormal_ to trash those attempting to do exactly this, as would be any attempt at a justification for the tone, content and style of your original posting, for which I am pleased to note you have apologised.

You don't, however, have to apologise for your financial status, provided it's all legal and above-board...
[:p]

Basicly I see it like this Perdition is correct. We have always paid too much for services in SA. At R1500 a month it is very expensive. For R1500 a month I can purchase a substantial vehicle and have something to show at the end of the terms. Noone seems to remind me of a well known Queen in France during the middle ages who said...Let them eat cake if they have no bread...In modern times we are all look to save a little here and there. We don't want free items we just want to pay the right price. Telkoms prices are not just wrong they are unconstructive to our country. As regards to NoCap, I have been very happy with Jasons service and product. I must let you know that I am in no way affiliated with NoCap or Jason. I'm Just a happy customer who likes the internet a lot.
I think thats the real reason any of us is here. This technology allows meetings, argument, love and deception all on a medium that we all enjoy. Keep up the boasting Noone, It makes the site interesting.

You saying I'm a queen?

Dont make me bitchslap you boy!

Besides, the whole "Let them eat cake if they dont have bread comment" is really out of context I think.

the point I was trying to make is that people try and live out of bounds of what they actually can afford, then bitch about pricing etc.

If I had the 299 package, and it went down to 200 (and I wanted to try the 499 package, but it fell away and became a better one, only at 899)

I'd stay with the 200 just because I know I can afford to. Yes, it's not THAT good an example because he really did try and tell Jason that the packages are too wide spread, especially for low income folk, so that is a very valid point. But I was speaking in general about the whole attitude we have towards everything

Call me a queen, send me your address, and dont be suprised if I pitch up with a wiffle bat yo!

Hi

MyADSL has provided an excellent base for Nocap to grow and improve by listening to what the people have to say. I have appreciated all the input and have put real effort into providing a service that can compliment the current ADSL Provider. We are all respectable men here and are all trying to help ADSL along. Lets move forward on that basis. I will continue trying to provide a wide as possible service by adding something positive into ADSL. I appreciate everyone helping me with that.

Thanking everyone for their Support.

Hi

Ive been working on a vpn solution for some time now. I would just like to know how many would be interested in a Fixed VPN with 64k guarenteed international and a fixed IP. This i can only do if i have the numbers. The price however could be around R1800pm. This would be a total NAT solution and not a Proxy system. Also a 99.9% uptime guarantee. I can not promise this option as it requires a large amount of financial outlay, but if i get enough people i can make it work. Email me on [email protected] to let me know what you think.

Thanking You
Jason

I think that R1800 is a bit too steep for the average user. Even though it is probably worth the money.

ADSL's R900 already cuts me deep.

Hi

This package is mostly aimed at users who wish to host or setup a server as it has a fixed IP. Still working on it though who knows what can happen. What i need to know do people need high bandwidth for there fixed ip or would a 32 or 45k also do. This would basically cut the cost in half. I think i will keep working on it and see what i can come up with.

Thanx
