Anyone else not able to connect to TheTVDB with the scraper? I've tried on openelec-Eden, Mac-Frodo, Windows-Frodo to no avail.

I searched their forum but can't find an answer. I searched the XBMC forum but they always tell you to go to the TVDB forum instead...

Had the same issue when re-adding all the items on my replaced NAS the other day. Haven't bothered to look into it any further, I hardly use the library for the TV stuff, only the movies. What did the TVDB forums say? I didn't even know they had forums.

I pretty much only use it for TV. I rarely watch movies these days.

TVDB forum - couldn't find anything for it, but their forum is a mess...

Seems the tvdb are having more and more problems these days. I don't think they can handle the load.

They apparently changed hosting providers. Clearly this new one sucks but they do get it for free iirc...

I also had a problem. It didn't update the library when I added new episodes. But yesterday I saw the issue resolved.

It worked temporarily yesterday but it was broken again last night. Still broken now by the looks of things...

Yip, still broken, but nothing to be found on the XBMC nor TVDB sites.

Yes, I'm waiting for someone else to report it...:D

Interestingly enough, it looks like the TV Show - Next Aired plugin is working, and I believe their data comes from TVDB too. So it appears to be the scraper that's broken and not TVDB. I can browse their site fine, after all...

Found the issue - Seems to be connectivity related

My Primary Account is MWEB and a tracert to thetvdb.com failed so switched to my FNB secondary account for testing, tracert completes and thetvdb.com scraping working again.

Mine doesn't appear to be connectivity related. I can get to the site just fine.

My limited exposure to this sort of thing tells me that it is a problem with the plugin or the API...

Ditto rqleslie

Switched to my FNB account and it works like a charm.

Now the question is: What did MWEB do?

Sending MWEBGuy a PM now...

If you're getting to thetvdb via a browser on your PC\tablet, all will appear well.
Scrapers don't connect the same way to sites as browsers do.

Mine doesn't appear to be connectivity related. I can get to the site just fine.

My limited exposure to this sort of thing tells me that it is a problem with the plugin or the API...

Well I'm not with MWEB. I'm with Axxess. Tried with an Afrihost account and the same problem persists. Will check on 3G...

www.thetvdb.com does not work on mweb, but thetvdb.com does. Both work through FNB connect. Go figure

I found a solution that worked for me. Hope it helps everyone else.

I also can't add any new shows through Sickbeard which also uses TVDB. So the problem I have is both XBMC scraper and Sickbeard are faulty.

Advice I've seen on forums for Sickbeard is to change any reference to www.thetvdb.com to thetvdb.com in 2 of the .py files. Unfortunately the Windows binary version doesn't have those files. But it got me thinking there might be a file for XBMC so I used Everything to search for any files called TVDB and low and behold there is a tvdb.xml at "C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\addons\metadata.tvdb.com\tvdb.xml" and "C:\Users\Reaper1\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\metadata.tvdb.com\tvdb.xml". I'm not sure if modifying one afefcts the other but I changed both anyway. Also not sure if they're identical so I didn't want to cut and paste.

I did a find and replace for all www.thetvdb.com and replaced with thetvdb.com. Juist tested it and everything indexes just fine. Not if I can just figure out how to fix Sickbeard.

On a side note, I'm with MWEB so the issue is definitely the www. but it does work without.
