XBMC TheTVDB scraper not working...

I think i may have a fix for the Sickbeard problem but I don't know Python. I need to change www.thetvdb.com to tvdb.com in the line baseURL in 2 files which, in the Windows version are in 2 .pyo files which are in a zip file. So I need to edit those .pyo files and then add them back into the zip.

Does anyone know how to edit .pyo files?

Sorry Reaper - I found a couple of links out in the great wide interwebs but I have enough trouble with English as my first language, leave alone trying to understand things like decompilation and assembly... :wtf:

I have absolutely no idea what any of you are talking about...:wtf:

I'm ok on markup like HTML but actual programming is beyond me.

Sometimes I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about but it's all good, makes my life that much more intesting.

Anyway, on the XBMC TVDB scraper issue. It seems someone fixed something because Sickbeard is scraping again. Can't confirm XBMC because I already changed the files but I assume it's all fixed.

My Primary Account is MWEB and a tracert to thetvdb.com failed so switched to my FNB secondary account for testing, tracert completes and thetvdb.com scraping working again.

I also can't add any new shows through Sickbeard which also uses TVDB. So the problem I have is both XBMC scraper and Sickbeard are faulty.
<snip>
On a side note, I'm with MWEB

www.thetvdb.com does not work on mweb, but thetvdb.com does. Both work through FNB connect. Go figure

Ditto rqleslie

Switched to my FNB account and it works like a charm.

Now the question is: What did MWEB do?

Sounds like Naspers is checking if they can block Sickbeard...

They'd kill their business if they started to censor the internet like that. But it isn't the case - my Axxess, Afrihost, Vodacom & MTN accounts couldn't connect either. Haven't tested it yet today...

Well if that is how Mweb/Naspers is going to handle it then I see a lot of myBB members jumping ship.

Hold on there guys, I said they might be testing, not implementing. :D

I'd jump ship either way though, their AUP sucks

Switched on XBMC on Raspberry Pi today and sure enough there was a pop-up "TVDB add-on updated"
TVDB's scraper be working again.

As for why it worked via FNB but not via MWEB - maybe it was a DNS issue or something like that - I couldn't get Reaper's workaround of changing www.thetvdb.com to thetvdb.com to work on the Pi...

We may never know...

Seems to be working now. I've just upgraded my XBMCbuntu install and now I see they've made it a schlep to enable reading RAR files. FML.

Mine's still not working. Not on any of my machines. No updates available for thetvdb either...

Post a tracert here, check where it's getting stuck.

This is a traceroute to thetvdb.com from my IS connection:

Site loads fine.

Has been patchy for me as well, half the shows in sickbeard don't get proper TBN and NFO files, but its been working today

mine is working again today, last week had continual problems. Was a major headache having 6TB of content and trying to scrape with continual errors. I actually decided to leave scraping on Friday and play through the files option, but hey presto working again now!

All of a sardine working on my side late last night. No add-on updates needed, nor available...

I haven't seen any of mine update but the addons do update automatically so it is very likely that I missed it if they did...
