Xbone ping issues

Heya,

Running 4mbps line on Afrihost, 150gb cap. Chose capped so that I could get good speeds.

However, on my Xbox One I'm getting a ping of 310-350ms, which is pretty crappy. Even tried plugging it in to the router instead of wireless and it didn't make much difference.

Makes Halo: MCC almost unplayable as the servers pick people with a higher latency. Waiting 20 mins for a game is not my idea of fun.

Router is ASUS DSL-N10 Wireless N-150.

Any suggestions on what I can do to bring it down? Considering a swap to 10mbps line and dropping the cap to 100gb so that there's only a R30 price increase.

Thanks

Harry

Where are you seeing those pings? If it's under Settings, it's pinging the US servers, and also not indicative of actual gameplay latency. But it should be better than 300ms though. Try another ISP on a different network like Webafrica (just get a free account). I find I can't game online with Afrihost, but Webafrica works great.

For example last night I got into Halo: MCC matchmaking games for the first time since launch using Webafrica (between 30 seconds and 2 minute waiting times). Switched to Afrihost and couldn't find a single game during a 30 min search.

I'm assuming that the game is on a US server? In that case 310 to 350 is normal. EU servers will get you around 200ms.
This is why before even thinking of buying a new game you should check if there are local servers, or at least european ones.

Same here.

Under settings around 300ms is what I get, as others have said, it's pinging US servers.

However, in-game is a different experience, take Titan fall, which connects on EU servers I average 190-200ms ping times and have a great experience.

That's on VOX.

Yeah, ping numbers are from the "Detailed Network Statistics (or something like that)" in settings.

Will give a WebAfrica account a crack, seems super simple. Might also help with my WoW latency, which isn't great. While I'm at it, do any other ISP's offer free accounts worth trying?
