I have an LG 32" HD ready TV which at first had no signal when trying to connect using the HDMI cable I got with it.

I managed somehow to reset using the RT + Y reset and it worked stellar for about 3 months. I moved house twice and when I set up all AV atuff again for the second time the HDMI wouldn't work again. This time I cannot get the Xbox to reset because my controller won't be picked up by the Xbox. The Xbox seems to be waiting for me to plug in the AV cables before it starts booting.

In Detail

I start the console using the controller and the power light goes on. The controller continues to search but does not link to the console. The consoles outer ring does nothing. I found a useful link describing the problem as the Xbox automatically setting the screen settings to 1080 when booting with HDMI which makes perfect sense. The only issue is I cannot use my controller to blindly navigate to the correct setting.

I am fairly certain all the components are fine. Just getting the correct settings the issue.

I have been playing on the AV cables and it really is a downgrade. Tempted to buy component cables but would rather not have to spend unnecessarily.

Anyone out there who can help?

I have been looking around.

The Xbox won't initiate the boot sequence, over HDMI, until it receives confirmation from the TV of what resolutions are compatible. The problem with the reset (which worked somehow once before) is that the controller syncing only happens once the HDMI handshake has taken place.

Could the fact that I am powering both devices (allowing power to run to both, leaving the TV on standby) be causing the TV to still not register. Will the Xbox boot if I leave the TV completely off? Grasping at straws I know

I had this issue too. So I went along and used the component cable.
