Xbox 360 issues, tissues.

Don't stress about it saffa, the new 360's (HDMI units) are pretty solid and seem to have all the problems worked out. Either way timgaul's right: keep your proof of purchase somewhere safe and you shouldn't have any issues. My overarching opinion? The gains far outweight the pains.

(I know, pick a corner, need more coffee...)

Don't be fooled, while not nearly as legendary as the RRoD, the PS3 is having a few issues of it's own, namely with the Blu-Ray laser failing.

Heard of a rather large amount of overheating, as well. That takes us back to the early days of the 360, doesn't it? You're not safe either way, keep your receipt and in the unlikely event of a problem, you should be covered (that goes for both consoles).

yeh, don't stress, get an xbox360, they are awesome consoles, the best thing thats ever happened for gaming this century - and the official agents, MIDigital, what a bunch of special people - I doubt Sony could even come close to their dedication and support.

(Guess who just had their Xbox exchanged:D)

nah, wasn't painless - this has been ongoing for a month - but they did in the end offer really good service...received a call this morning to say replacement xbox has arrived, my better half went there, the one lady said but its not RROD and the other lady said, is that Mrs furnic...its ok, management approved the swop....

not going to happen to this one, this one to last until next generation console comes out!!

so anyhow enuff whining, whining should be left for PS3 owners only!!

Yip, whenever, I detect a scratch on my cds (usually when the console does not want to read it).

I apply a generous glod of toothpaste to the disk, smear it in a circular motion around the surface (with a lint free cloth of course), then I just rinse and clean the disk off (again using a lint free cloth).

Put it back in and viola!! Works like a charm

KK Just a warning before you nubs go using microgranual and the other kukky toothpastes on you R 600 game. The trick is to use the gel toothpastes, the blue gel aquafresh or whatever. But yes been using toothpaste for ages 8)

Glad to see that after moping around on this forum you came right :p

But if you ever get tired of the 360 you can always give it to me ;)

Hehe

@furnic, did u, LIKE ME, also get one with hdmi? :D

I dunno what this HDMI is or looks like or does - I'm just happy the cd tray opens without having to pry it open with all kinds of ingenious methods.

They must love you, easy to please customer. One coffee tray coming right up :D

Is there another port below the AV port about 2cm wide?

by port I gather you mean hole with the letters HDMI embossed above it? if so, yip, its there, now what do i do with it?
though its not below it, its next to it, you musn't confuse technophobes!!

/me went to check on my unit too after reading that ......... /me also has that HDMI slot *yay* ..... that means less likelihood of a problem doesn't it?

You jump up and down doing a jig because they've given you one of the latest models with all the good fiddly bits.

sweeet....

but on a serious note...what can I do with that hdmi hole - I desperately now want to stick something in it??

U plug a brand new Big ass HDTV in there :D

Or maybe an HDMI --> DVI converter if you don't have an HDTV, but only an LCD screen that can support it.

Otherwise, it's pretty much something to show off to ur friends with :p
