Xbox 360 or graphics card?

You guys are forgetting that you need an HD tv to fully enjoy an xbox. Unless you just feel like sticking the HD cable up your arse. (lets just be honest here, xbox on a normal PAL tv looks ****ty)

I CAN compare them because they are the same price

are you suggesting we compare an XBox to a GFX card without a PC at all? you can't do that!

Am I the only one that sees that as an unfair point when he said he has a PC?

because that is what the THREAD TITLE is. GFX card vs 360.

unless you are a moron, we all assumed he has a PC when he named the thread "Xbox 360 or graphics card?" unless he's basing his decision on just looking at the box every day...

why should he buy an XBox and pay R600 for a game when all he needs is a GFX card to pay R300 for a game?

All you are doing is just setting him up for a FAIL every time he wants to buy a new game.... funny.

More graphics power definitely, a lot more uses with a 360 though :) (im comparing R3k gfx card not full pc to the R3k360)

More uses? Like what? As far as I can see PC gaming wins the options war hands down. I use a joypad, there are online clans devoted to every game imaginable, I have better graphics.... I don't see how a 360 gives me better options.

I know you can't. Look OP wanted to chose between a gfx card / xbox. What can the gfx card do? play games at higher settings than what he currently can, thats it. A Xbox could play ALL games(a lot of really good exclusives which pc guys will never see and he could use his pc for the ones he really wanted on pc) A Xbox could also be used as a very good media center in the lounge etc etc

Its not unfair, its just a fact that a gaming PC costs R10k vs R2k console

He could of had a 2ghz 512mb celeron and you still promoted PC with its free games, how well would a 4850 work with that PC?when he named the thread "Xbox 360 or graphics card?" unless he's basing his decision on just looking at the box every day...

Erm.. If he sinks to your level and pirates, he can get ANY game for R30. If he chooses not to there are many ways play the latest games without buying.

Since he mentioned he had a nice pc to compliment a GFX card I would also so get a GFX card. My point was that you always jump on your high horse about consoles before you know any facts.

What is really funny is that you like to think you know everything about the consoles yet you have never owned one or experience one. Why don't you get yourself a xbox (R1799 atm, and then pirate games like all your PC games) and THEN you can compare.

.

BTW I am a PC gamer, most of my games played on PC but there are a few games which are AMAZING on the console which makes it more than worth it.

That's great if you can afford to have both. But there are some games which are also AMAZING on PC - like Crysis Warhead, every RTS game - that consoles can't handle. But there is no experience on console that a PC can't recreate except for something like Wii which is all console exclusive, and so makes it worthwhile IMO. 360 is for amateur PC gamers.

Ok so this is my @cents worth...but its probably been mentioned...

Consoles are great fun but their functionality is somewhat limited...vs a PC.
Its worth getting the console if you already own a decent size LCD i.e. 32" with a killer sound system. If not... get the gfx card...

This reminds me of: http://www.gamespot.com/features/6202552/index.html

What's the point of a 32" LCD when the graphics on a console are still not comparable to a PC?

Last I checked, console games are programmed/developed on a PC. If you have the money (or even if you don't and just have something called will, save up) get a decent PC where you have little to no worries about irremediable frame rate issues and still have the opportunity to see a game at its finest.

If you have a PC and you want to play a game with a gamepad, plug one in. If you want to turn the graphics to their max, get texture packs to improve them even further, etc, etc - do so. On a console - you're stuck with it.

But I'm sure all of you know how these little.. er.. "debates" end up. To me, graphics quality and framerate are important, the mass functionality of my PC outweighs any console, so why would I bother? Nine out of ten games worth playing (in my opinion) that get released for the PS3/360 get released for the PC. So again, why bother?

To others, the 360/PS3 graphics and whatever else are sufficient; to me... not so.

The fact is that MANY new games aren't making it to the PC which really does suck. So yes there are games which a pc can't recreate because they aren't even being made for it anymore.

Amateur gamers? Do you earn your living playing games? Thought not.

But anyway, it seems that you guys will never accept that a console is on par with a PC for different reasons (probably because you haven't taken the chance to experience one) My point being don't right off something you know nothing about.

Anyway, I still prefer my PC for gaming because of a few certain games (BF2, COD5, C&C etc) but you just need to look at the list of games on the consoles which makes it worth it, your missing out!

Cheers.

In the end, it's all about the games. So here's why PC Gaming looks to be amazing this year: (And yes some are console too, but i bet the PC version is cheaper)

http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/games-of-2009/

Highlights (for me anyway, the list is huge):
Starcraft 2
Diablo 3
Empire : Total War
Disciples III
Age of Pirates 2
Mafia 2
Dragon Age
Beyond Good & Evil 2
The Lord of the Rings : Conquest
Splinter Cell 5
Operation Flashpoint 2
Arcania: A Gothic Tale (aka Gothic 4)
Deus Ex 3

DC Universe Online
Champions Online

As for those going on about PC piracy vs. console logic, PC Games are STILL cheaper than consoles games. I can buy 2 PC games for the price of 1 new Xbox/PS3 game in most cases. [R350-R400 a game] . That alone is enough reason.
