xBox 360 - should I get one?

On a different note. ive heard, not sure if its true, but that you can play copied PS2 disks without the Mod Chip by downloading a certain ISO image and burning it to disk. Running that disk in th player before a copied disk.

Is this possible?
And if it is would it work for xbox as well?

I dont think you want to spark something :D

Well IMHO, if you getting it for your kid, get a Wii (more likely to have kiddy games, plus he can swing/throw the controller and it actually does something ;) )

Or if its for yourself and you just using the kid to justify it (I don't blame you), get the Xbox

Sorry but i was wondering whether or not its the same case as with PC games.
It was afterall only rumours that i heard.

HFS

I had no idea things could get that bad.
Definately not the spark i was planning on.

Thx for the link Gavin

See, I am considering putting it on my b-day wishlist, and because I spend almost all of my free time with the little monster, I would like to be able to play, and he plays with. So to some extent, he is part of the equation, but not the justification of the xbox. If it is not going to be used (by both of us) enough, I'd rather get a new RC transmitter for my chopper :D

When's you're B-day Landy?

I seriously think, that for a family oriented Console you should hold out for the Wii, I know I am, (my wife offered to import a 360 for my birthday in Feb, but the second she got wind of the Wii, that was it :o )

Majority of the 360 content is targeted at adults, while there's adult content on the Wii, the percentage of family centric software is miles higher. just think about playing Wii Tennis with the little one.

Oh, so the Wii is going to be the *cough* 'mandatory' 360 HD-DVD attachment? ;)

How awesome would it be for someone to release drivers, using a usb laplink cable, to use the Wii as a Controller for the 360?

rofl @ doobiwan!

who is actually going to cough up for a HD-DVD drive for the X360? I am keen in ordering one from Amazon.co.uk but would require somebody to bring it down with. :p

You could rather just order it direct from Lik-sang or Play Asia.

Personally, the whole war is way too early, I'll wait till I can pick up a dual player / HD burner.

*gasp* I actuallly agree with doobiwan.

I have no intention of getting a HD player or a Blu-Ray player until we know who is going to win.

I saw an article recently that said a new type of disc has been invented that can hold Blu-Ray and HD formats at the same time.... I'm not wasting good money on the next BetaMax and currently I don't know which one is going to end up like that... DVD is fine for me, I don't even have a HD tv yet :)

well, i just want to see what all the fuss is about coz seeing pics comparing a regular DVD to HD-DVD doesnt do it justice.

apparently the first batch of MS HD-DVD X360 drives will come bundled with King Kong for free. :)

i bought the xbox 360 really not expecting much, but let me tell you my opinion of the machine changed, its a great little toy, the power of the xbox lies not within its core, it lies within its functionality. patented functionality that, me and my brothers pray will stand up against the might of the ps3.

although i wish no harm against Sony, they are a good company running for years on end now. I do feel that the uncomming storm will see the two giants, sony and microsoft, running for gold.

the thing is, due to the earlier release of the 360 they do have a market share headstart over sony, this means one thing; more cross over platform games. I personally love flagship games, games that were programmed on the specific concoles infrastructure, eg' Tekken and Metal Gear Solid for the ps2.

So choose what you will, at an aesthetic point of view i much rather enjoy the xbox, design seemed to be real important factor in its construction, the ps3 however reminds me of a black pimped up Datsun bakkie with dropped suspension and a 5 foot wing from Danville ( no offense to myadsl subscribers from danville, merely indicating that you guys have fast cars! thumbs up :P ) plus the use of fonts that Sony implemented is laughable, im going to go ahead and say it...its the Spiderman movie font.... porque sony...porque...

All in all the xbox seems like a winner to me, just because of aesthetic merrit, im glad microsoft did propper market research and realised they arent designing car tuning parts but working class home entertainment systems, good on you guys. good on you. god loves good design. well done.

ljr.
