Xbox 720 rumours rounded up

How certain is that date? I remember reading somewhere recently about MS considering "dropping" Windows after Win 8 and releasing an integrated OS across both consoles & PC's - meaning you can play XBox titles on your PC natively - with the target being around 2015, which would suggest Win8 would be coming around 2013 or so, and the 720 probably around the same time, if not a little sooner.

Consoles seriously hold back gaming. And that is pretty sad given that it is their only purpose!

Crappy controls, budget spent on pleasing the eye and not the brain.

Call me nostalgic but most computer games that I have played between the Nintendo / SEGA consoles and the PS2 were the best ones ever from a FUN point of view. These days, I barely complete games let alone get past the first 30 minutes.
 
There was a key note speech from NVIDA CEO about the graphics power by 2015. 1000% increase between now and then with Ray Tracing becoming possible at 30-60 fps. At that point photo realistic graphics will be possible.

But once you hit photo realistic graphics is there a need for faster hardware for gaming?

So for their sake I hope they get it fast enough for that.
