On the Sony giving the Pubs choice to implement DRM, that could actually go against them because if the Pubs all decide to go that route that would make them look like they lied to their users and pretty much on the same space as MS.
What?! This happens on the PC all the time. Think about Activision/Blizzard and Diablo III. Are PC users angry at Microsoft for lying to them, or for letting someone use always-online DRM on the Windows operating system? No, they are not. If anything, its the publisher that gets the grief. One has to wonder why on earth MS would require anyone to have to sign-in on their xbone for the sake of a publisher - it's a brand new approach from them and it just seems stupid. I'm going PS4 as well.

-Don Mattrick, Microsoft's President of Interactive Entertainment Business
So it is the Xbox 360 vs PS4? This ain't gonna end well for Microsoft.
This has got nothing to do with Sony, and if Publishers do it themselves(Require Always Online for single player) its up to use the end users to show that we do not like this type of practice, by not supporting the games.
Oh and lets get one thing clear. All games, regardless of Publisher or OEM have DRM, just that Sony doesn't require you to validate the authenticity of your games online "Big Brother" style. In short they trust that their console's and DRM code on the discs are good enough to make sure you only use originals.
I predict this gen will be PS2 all over again.

So where does one pre-order the Ps4? All this talk is gettin gme more amped to get it sooner rather than later, PLUs watched the Killzone previews and inFamous trailer. EPIC. Just need some more exclusives to come.
If they can level the playing field and adopt Sony's (or their own 360) policy wrt DRM, then I will get an X1. If they don't, then it's PS4. I think the damage has already been done though, this was possibly their last shot at getting it right and they failed. You are 100% correct.
Unless MS pull their head out of their ass and change their stupid DRM nonsense.. if they do that, then its anyones game again.
Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity," Mattrick said. "It's called Xbox 360."
I'm confused about the uproar over the XBox One's updated DRM method.
Traditionally the disc (e.g. Bluray on PS4) would be used to check rights i.e. has to be inserted to play particular game. To me it seems MS have just modernized the check method to use the cloud. Am I mistaken in believing XBox One games can be played without the disc being inserted i.e. all install completely on HD?
True, but with their mountains of XBL data, I would image MS has a pretty accurate idea of what % that represents.IOW, completely alienate those without an internet connection.
Still, it might prompt others such as myself to jump on principle. I can't trust a company that locks everything down without leaving any alternatives open, it makes me wonder what they will do once I do have the console. At the very least, DRM decisions should be left to the publisher.True, but with their mountains of XBL data, I would image MS has a pretty accurate idea of what % that represents.
