I know now why they took so long to announce.


It took them a while to surface from the bottom. Shocker if this is all hey can muster for a 20th bday month.

That's cos we getting Halo on GP soon. Nobody's going to care about the old games... :D

Well if we look at number of Gold subs (±100 Million) vs GamePass subs (±30 million) there are a lot of people that not gonna be happy. Suppose its Microsoft's hidden efford to get people to move to Gamepass, and hope they dont simply jump ship to the competition.
 
Noob question. I'm getting into console gaming for the first time (pc gamer all my life) and I'm planning on getting Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition for the Series S - to get all the DLCs, VIP membership and other goodies (game pass only has the Standard Edition).

On the bottom of the store listing for the game is says "Online console multiplayer/co-op requires Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Live Gold (memberships sold separately)."

Do I still need a Game Pass/Live Membership to play it multiplayer/co-op after spending R1600 on the full game?

Just buy 12 months of gold and then upgrade to game pass.
Even on the PS you'd have to pay for PSN to play online

Yes; only free to play games don’t require it.

Don’t buy the Premium.

Buy 3 years of Live Gold and then upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate and it works out to about R60 a month.

Then buy the Premium upgrade to the Game Pass version.
 
Thanks for all the feedback guys! Buying a game and then having to pay a monthly fee for multiplayer access is a foreign concept to me, but if that is the price of admission then so be it.

I'll then do the Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate upgrade "hack" and just buy the FH5 Premium upgrade after.

Apart from Microsoft or Takealot, any other sites you recommend to buy the Live Gold voucher codes from?

Second this option - it's also eBucks. friendly. So 3x 12 month vouchers via Ebucks --> Upgrade to GP Ultimate for $1 and boom 3 years at +-R50 a month.

They come with the world map rollup as well (at least mine did when I got it from takealot). Wish I had been a bit more careful unrolling it as it would be great to be framed and put on a wall!

But anyone else having issues with payment not going off from a Mastercard with Capitec, with regards to Game Pass Ultimate not going off?

Tried adding my virtual card too as payment method from the app, but not working and saying to contact the bank.

EDIT: After a 3rd attempt on my old card, it did go through now.
Not sure if it made a difference jumping on my laptop at all.

The first one did I think and yeah same issue ripped it opened, second one didn't.

Microsoft has some issues with payment processing at times. Noticed this quite a bit so nothing to worry about really

I had frequent issues with online subscriptions with my Capitec card back when I used them. Since switching to FNB a few years ago, zero issues.
