Xbox Series X / S

Could be part of a clause in Sony's COD agreement with ABK, game cannot be on any subscription services and it probably ends after next years COD.
Yes refers to the current and the next CoD (2024) falls under the Paid-for clause to exclude GamePass.

If I was MS, I would pay Sony back for all their crying about exclusivity by being petty and not adding it to Gamepass but instead offering all Gamepass members a discounted price on MW3 of $0.99

Did you expect it to be free forever?

Does it actually suck though? If you've got banked time seems like you're getting a great deal - i.e. they're handing out vouchers for a substantial length of time for those who are members of a plan.
Have got over 10 months of time banked, which per the link should mean vouchers for 3 years of game pass ultimate for all members of the current friends and family plan if I'm reading the page there correctly. (EDIT: was suggesting banking time, but seems like that's not possible).

Yeah it does suck, as it was easy to have 5 people use the same gold and game pass, now also no time banked as we let it all slide to sign up for this.

I'd be very curious if it is indeed possible to bank time at this point, as that would reduce your effective cost for the next 3 years of game pass ultimate to ~R55/month (suppose that should probably be inflation-adjusted but I'm feeling lazy)

It should be noted that those vouchers are going out to all members of the Friends and Family plan, not just the primary account holder - i.e. to excerpt the page: "We’ll be sending Xbox Game Pass Ultimate codes ... to both Primary and Secondary members ... All participants in your group plan will also be receiving the same personalised offer, so that you can continue playing together."

i.e. if you can bank time at this point (I'm unsure), that's a route to 3 years ultimate for each of the current members of your plan - I'm not quite sure how that differs from "have 5 people use the same gold and game pass" as I think each of those people already have separate xbox accounts. They'd simply need to redeem the voucher for their individual account. You'd have to do something a little over 3 years from now, but if it reduces your cost over 2/3 for that duration it'd seem like it'd be worth it.

When I tried to redeem a code it first wants me to unsubscribe from the family

I'm paying 199 a month for it, it's not free

So what are you talking about then?

Are you an Insider? You likely just signed up for the Preview before retail launch which has now ended.

The product is still ongoing, you basically just had an early build of sorts.

*****

My bad I see now the entire thing was just a Preview...that was never made obvious it seemed like a very solid product launch.

I guess one thing to look forward to is that maybe it gets augmented for the better.

I Guess Phill opened the lawyer's bill and did not get the friends and family discount.

That deal ended start of this month.

Exactly it was never made apparent it was only a preview

Yeah initially it was listed as a thing on the Insider builds which is what I referred to earlier but I guess it then went mainstream and the Preview part just wasn't mentioned.

I honestly thought it was a launched and live product.

Same here, I've had it since March

That's not the same thing as I was referring to. In my case (and if I'm reading the FAQ right), the xbox faq re: end of the friends and family program are saying that anyone with more than 10 months of banked time as of end of the preview period would receive a 36 month voucher for ultimate for each member of their friend and family plan.

i.e. it'd be a pay for 10 and get 36 months sorta deal. Unfortunately doesn't sound like you can bank more time at this point though if you're in a friends and family plan.
