Xbox Series X / S

No luck there either. Hopefully when I go there they'll be one in the back somewhere
Available today on Takealot... from some drop shipper...at a whopping R18K!

There was also some units briefly available yesterday sold at similar pricing by another scalper, a flippen Vape seller(!!) but they sold out. Crazy.

AT 18K you'd be better off buying one of these:

And install Bazzite.

won't run as well, but it is far more convenient :-)

Not really comparable. But you could get a PS5 Pro which is actually more powerful...

Crazy thing is the highest industry average profit margin is about 17-22% or something like that.

Layoffs are incoming as well that's for sure.

ABK deal aftermath in full swing!

I think I might have reached my fill of bad news.

With the latest round of interviews, the forced 30% profit margins, and the terrible earning call...

As a guy who imported my first, original, Xbox into South Africa long before the X360 even became a thing, I am looking at PC hardware for this first time in many years. That should be a telling sign. Heck I even remember the X360 launch in SA at the dome event.

I love my current Series X. It's the bespoke, cutdown OS, single spec for all, well designed piece of hardware that allows it to have features that is not found elsewhere and punch way above its hardware should allow.

It's clear the next Xbox will be a PC and priced for it as well. If the ROG Xbox Ally X is an example of what that means (the thing comes with Teams installed, for heaven's sake!) then I'm out.

With the latest round of interviews, Microsoft's vision is becoming clear to me. 1. The CEO does not care about gaming at all, 2. Phil is a puppet, 3. spam everything on all devices in existence, 4. create a PC/console because we lost the console race 4. screw the loyal customers.

In my opinion (for whatever that is worth), the Xbox brand has suffered tremendous harm and even long time fans are jumping ship. There is precious little reason to worry about Xbox any longer. The PC will play all Xbox titles. The Playstation will play all Xbox titles. And Steam will have the specials you need. Gamepass will do gamepass things (and probably increase another 30% next year to meet its targets)

I shouldn't care this much about it, but I do because some of my best gaming experience came from Xbox. It holds special memories.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong in all of this.

The current Xbox is a PC :), the previous one as well, the only one that wasn't was the 360. At the end of the day just keep playing it, doesn't matter what happens. Who cares if the brand has taken a knock you've already got one.

I am enjoying my gaming on the console because in the end, I have the console, games to play on it - that's what I bought it for.

Choosing to get emotionally involved in the news cycle and make that determine what I play on has never played a role in my decision making. That usually falls on my own finances.

My series X is great. My PS5 is great. My laptop will be great when I fix the screen.

Yeah but going forward it's not worth building up your library any further on Xbox...
