Six month later, and I'm still loving this console. Gamepass is the #1 gamechanger for me.

Granted, I'm a bit of a bargain bin hunter that is prepared to wait for specials, never buying new games at R1000+ anyway, but I have not purchased a single game yet.

I've played:

Doom Eternal
Rage 2
Maneater
Outriders
Call of the Sea
Outerwilds
Darksiders: Gensis
Ori 1 & 2
Gears 4 & 5
The Medium
Control
Starwars: Jedi Fallen Order
Forza 4

and various indie titles with backwards compatibility (Caste Crashers! )

Sold my PS4 this weekend as it's just gathering dust now.

And what would be your top recommendations?

I've been spending an unhealthy amount of time on recently added FIFA21 as well as UFC3 (something like 800 fights done now...). Also doing Outriders from time-to-time when I have co-op available - probably once or twice a week. Spent a lot of time surviving in The Long Dark. Enjoyed Fortnite oddly enough (that's free, not part of GamePass). I recommend Lonely Mountains: Downhill for some seriously chilled out, fun, challenging indie biking, as well as "Yes, Your Grace" if you have the patience for a choose-your-own type of story game (also quite good for when you just want to kick back and take it easy). On my to-play-when-I-can list are Desperados 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, Star Was: Jedi Night, Night Call (leaving soon) and a bunch of others.

The drawback is there is a lot of crap on Game Pass too, as well as many games that I just didnt connect with and uninstalled after 15 minutes of playing, like Cricket....

I also haven't bought a single game yet, however, I am keen to get a game or two soon that can test the console. Im sure Valhalla will be on a decent sale soon and considering Hot Wheels when it releases.

There is a lot of crap, but there are a lot of gems too:

* Doom Eternal
* Jedi: Fallen Order
* The Medium
* Gears 5
* Ori 1 and 2
* GTA V (Story mode is boss. Wait for the "next gen" patch coming near the end of this year if you can - 30FPS isn't a great experience)

I've hit a bit of a slump myself, and the last few gamepass additions haven't been for me (lots of sports stuff). So at the moment I'm switching between these:

* No Mans Sky (proud to say I preordered this on Steam, so I am one of the OG beta testers)
* Maneater
* Aliens: Isolation
* Shadow Warrior 2
* Hellblade

I had a lot of fun playing Minecraft: Dungeons with some friends too.

Different tastes and all, but I have never been a fan of turn based games, so Desperados didn't work out for me. While I played the OG Mass Effect games, I just couldn't get through Andromeda. Even though they fixed a lot of the problems, I have now started that game twice now and I still can't get into it. I have officially given up.

Unfortunately for me, I really hit the gaming hard when I got my series X, so I played and finished all the good stuff quite quickly. Since then nothing has really gripped me that I've gone home to play every night. I suppose it's a good thing in a way.

Problem is Rockstar is still milking GTA V and want to charge full price for the next gen version of an 8 year old game. They can ****.

If you want to play it for free, the next gen version is likely not coming to GP anytime soon so we're stuck with the 30 FPS version...

Holy #@$%!!!

I'm clearing out my study, and found some original Xbox (pre-X360) games, that I wanted to throw out now, because they never worked on the X360. For laughs, I just inserted Jade Empire into the X Series and it's busy converting it!!! What the actual hell is with this backwards compatibility? Now I'm going to have to go through each one of them. Original KOTOR anyone? Burnout 3? Cassics!
Actually worked on the Xbox one :) but yeah the BC is great.

Honestly thinking of doing the same with my Switch. Only thing holding me back is if a new exclusive IP comes out, say a new Mario game that is as awesome as Odyssey was (I also think I got my switch banned :cautious: )

How did you find Outriders?

I love the Switch - playing Zelda:BotW (fir the first time) - love the pause, pick up and play anywhere nature of the console.

Its the reason why I have 3 PlayStations but only need 1 Xbox

Or simply put:
PS2 Fat - For PS1/PS2 Games (Fat can take a HD where slim can not)
PS3 Super slim - For PS3 Games (Phat can play PS2 games but prone to YLOD or Die)
PS4 for -PS4 Games (To be replaced with PS5 for PS4/PS5 Games)

Xbox Series - For Xbox/360/One and Series games

Xbox and Xbox Game Pass are Coming to More Screens

  • Xbox is working with global TV manufacturers to embed the Xbox experience directly into internet-connected televisions with no extra hardware required except a controller.
  • Xbox is exploring new subscription offerings for Xbox Game Pass so more players around the world can experience the most immersive and fun games across devices, geographies, and financial realities.
  • Xbox is working with telecommunications providers on new purchasing models like Xbox All Access, which allows consumers to buy both a console and Game Pass for a low monthly price, rather than spending money up front.
  • Xbox is building its own streaming devices for cloud gaming to reach gamers on any TV or monitor without the need for a console at all.
  • Cloud gaming through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will launch in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and Japan later this year.
  • In the next few weeks, cloud gaming on the browser will open to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. With Edge, Chrome, and Safari support, players will be a click away from gaming on almost any device.
  • We’re in the final stages of updating our Microsoft datacenters around the world with our latest generation of hardware, the Xbox Series X. This means gamers will see faster load times, improved frame rates, and experience Xbox Series X|S optimized games.
  • Later this year, we’ll add cloud gaming directly into the Xbox app on PC and integrate it into our console experience to light up scenarios like try before you download.

Must be E3? cause they dropped a lot of new trailers last night
Summer Game Fest stuff - they must be keeping all the good stuff for that Xbox & Bethesda show on Sunday.
I wonder if this means we will be able to stream from our own consoles to PC. I always have my laptop when I'm staying away from home for a while, and not having to cart my Xbox around would be nice.

I really want to lose my head when trying to download anything on the Xbox.

Run a speedtest through the Edge browser, get like 600Mbps+. Try to download a game, 30Mbps then 5Mbps then 50Mbps then 500Kbps then 90Mbps and so on. :mad:

I think this is something to do with how Xbox downloads and decompresses at the same time, although I cannot find any info online to confirm this, just everybody complaining about slow downloads.
