Have you not seen how live service gaming has stopped Sony from providing new games this gen. Naughty dog has been relegated to remasters and remakes. Their next new game will only see the light of day on PS6.
 
100% agree with that. CEO's aren't your mates and they should not be engaging with the fanbase at all.

However, this youngster has been actively engaging since an hour into the new job and has now been caught and admitted just yesterday that her account is played by family members and her engagement was from tone-deaf PR.

So why then I ask, is a CEO seeking engagement with kids on the internet and trying so desperately to fit in?

It reeks of immaturity and inexperience.

Current Xbox use Windows 11 Kernel already, tech is the same as a PC. Can buy Xbox (and even PS5) chipped motherboards and install vanilla windows 11 on them. See AMD 4700S/4800S kits

As for specs I suspect we looking and Zen 4 or such with lower quality DDR5. Top end DDR5 will be too costly.

At this point, consoles don't make financial sense releasing now, costs of parts are astronomical and when the PS5 pro and Series X are close to 20k??
Rather they should just actually I don't know release games this generation, it's been the most disappointing generation. It's been almost 6 years and we've had a remaster of Gears on Xbox. GTA 6 has taken 3 generations, we should be holding developers to the bat here and say we don't want these massive overly complex games. We just want games.

Depends when you got your console, I suppose. Launch price was reasonable, and I personally have been very happy with my PS5, and would defintely do it all over again if I had to.

Didn't go for the PS5 Pro as it didn't make any sense at the time. But someone posted in the PS5 thread that you can get a Pro on Amazon for R17k at the moment?

If my PS5 was to conk out right now, I would replace it with a Pro quite readily.

What kind of PC can you put together for R17k? Genuine question - I have no idea at the moment. Not that I would want to jump back into PC gaming.

I got my Series X on launch, but haven't really used it that much for about a year or so :-(. One of the benefits of play anywhere didn't carry over for some Ubisoft games so it sat.
Gaming PC for 17k now? Hmmm new or used? Cause RAM itself is a biatch.

That would be a pretty decent entry level to midrange PC. If this was a year ago it would've been R2k cheaper

I'm so out of date with PC's now i haven't a clue as to how good or not this build is.

But that's always the thing with PC's - continual changes in the landscape, and having to upgrade.

Having to upgrade hasn't really been a thing for a long time, that CPU is from 2021, the motherboard 2020, RAM as well.
Thanks to the stagnation of the console generation, the need for upgrading has been minimal you can do it every 5 years now if you want to.

Nope you don't need 4 slots, 2 is optimal, plus the difference between a PCIE4 and a 3 isn't worth the price jump really

Remember there are hardly any motherboards with quad channel memory slots + stability with 4 sticks takes a knock. Only thing I would look at is upping the mobo to a B550 which is a couple 100 more for the PCIE4 support.

Not to stir, but Xbox might have stagnated, PS not so much :)

But interesting to note that PC upgrade-mania has slowed down.

Then again, I have been reading on the console side how advances in tech have had diminishing returns in terms of actual improvements and performance gains lately, so I imagine that applies to the PC side of things as well.

PS has stagnated just as much, what has actually been released on it for the last couple of years? Plus the previous releases were just sequels or remasters. Barely any new IPs between both consoles, barely any new or exciting games. Developers are taking too long to release games.
Yup PC upgrades stagnated due to a couple of reasons, the 2010s thanks to Intel just releasing moderate upgrades on their CPUs but charging a fortune for the new chips and motherboards, then AMD came out and released the AM4 Ryzens which basically held for 8 years and you can still build one. GPUs had barely any upgrades for years as well, so you'd now wait up to 3 generations sometimes before really seeing an upgrade, this has gotten worse with AI DLSS BS.

I'm not going to start another console war. Let's just agree to disagree.

With regards to PC hardware, one would have thought the lack of significant developments would have brought prices down over the years then.

I does wonders if there is some collusion and price-fixing going on. Well worth it for the manufactures involved. Profits will be billions higher if they slow down their arms race between each other.

There's no console war ;-) this generation has sucked in general. Yes there have been games but they were also mostly released on previous generations, there have just been remasters mostly, barely anything of substance. No denying that, it doesn't matter what console you bought, it's been a dud compared to previous years and the previous generation was starting to show that cracks.

Well mostly for the period as PC prices have skyrocketed now.

AI is the reason pricing has increased so much in the last couple of months, last year was probably the best time to buy and upgrade as pricing was 50% lower sometimes 400% lower for memory and SSDs.
