Xbox360 prices to skyrocket

Yeah, well.

PC gaming is even cheaper now comparatively speaking.

Flipsakes!

xbox pro going for R3800?!?

I bought mine last month @ IC on a sale for R1999 - Now the games are in the R1k range? No thanks.

Guess it's time to upgrade the pc once again.

And the other consoles?

There are no price changes scheduled for the Wii or PS3.

Microsoft has been undercharging for the Xbox360 locally, so this was only a matter of time.

for the price they charge for games, the console should be free.

I don't have a console... luckily. I *almost* bought a x360 for christmas...

R1k per game .. that is insane.

Edit: To think .. 4 games and you just bought yourself a new GPU for your pc (not even selling your old one).

All I can say is GameXChange guys :)

I don't buy a single brand new game for my XBox360. All are pre-owned. Either from GameXChange or BidOrBuy. Don't buy new. It's madness.

You mean two games right?

Hmmm. Three pc games or one console game?

BWAHAHAHA!

R1000 per game! Good fking luck!

See piracy double in the next year.

My last post referring to the previous article reminds the same. The last article was a stupid article to write as there is always a pricing delay when it comes to straight R/$ exchange rates.
Our market is simply too small to be a major player when it comes to gaming and software etc, we will continue to have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to stay updated.
Get more people connected and then maybe volumes would justify price decreasing. XBox overseas is huge on internet/online gaming.
But getting rid of our monopolists is like trying to get rid of Bob M of Zim!!!...doesn't look like it will happen. I'll stick to PC games thanks

He he I was aiming for middle-top range.. but yea.. you can get good cards for R2k. :D

I don't support piracy.. but with R1k per game, good luck to keep customers buying games.

@Mike Smit .. you are correct in swapping.. but who will still pay R1k per game? There is going to be lots of people not buying games IMHO. So 2nd hand market might not have that many titles.. (and with world economy going down...)

What does that meen???.... Don't count your chickens before?????.... they hatch...lol

@Elfpierre

So you don't think the fact that people can buy an Xbox360 for less here than in the USA is relevant to consumers?

Or the fact that this will not be the case for very long?

I for one think its great information for anyone who is in the market for an Xbox360.

And there is not "always a delay when it comes to straight R/$ exchange rates. Look at the PS3 and Wii which were both affected by the currency devaluation almost immediately. These companies usually see these things coming and select the forward currency rate accordingly.

The Xbox360 had a buffer of a few months, which means that for a time it was a very sweet deal relative to the local console landscape. How is this is a stupid article?

IN OTHER BREAKING NEWS......

Local video game piracy rockets by 200%.

Publishers are baffled as to why.

Poor console kids are going to have to ask mommy for more pocket money

lots of extra chores to do ;)

:D

A few of them, bare in mind most console owners are over 20, I would imagine it's a lot easier convincing parents they are buying Johnny a R10k computer for homework than R2k for 'TV games'.
