XBox360 vs PS3 - Help wanted

Not going to get involved in one of these debates again.

You just did.

- Your Blu-ray player will get outdated

Ever heard of firmware updates?

The LittleBigPlanet and Uncharted games alone justified the purchase and I couldn't live without them.

Sad... very sad...

I considered purchasing an Xbox 360 just for Your Shape on Kinect. Luckily House & Home had the game set up outside a store once and I watched some middle aged guy make a fool of himself for a few minutes. It's looks very gimmicky.

Definitely not gimmicky. But don't take my word for it, check out the reviews.

You just did.

No, now I just did. Unless you post more drivel I'll do my best to stay out.

Ever heard of firmware updates?

Every person I know with a dedicated Blu-ray player doesn't do a thing about updating firmware.

Sad... very sad...

How so? They are two of the very best video games ever released, and represent the most fun I've ever had gaming. Have you played them? LBP2 and Uncharted 3 are almost certainly going to be in the top 5 games of 2011. You're saying they're no big deal? Are you a bitter Xbot? Only fanboys criticise so vaguely. 'Check the reviews' yourself.

Definitely not gimmicky. But don't take my word for it, check out the reviews.

I have checked out the reviews. Why else would I have wanted it?

Just remember the Kinect device might not be suitable for 1-x year olds [as in you need to be certain HEIGHT for it to recognize your movements] . The PS3 Move on the other hand is a bit more of a "tried and tested" tech [like the Wii] and anyone can hold the controller [ice cream cone] and wave it around .

Personally from a geek perspective, the Kinect [which works without a controller and is all about detecting your body movements] is the wildcard and "new" tech. So far the Kinect is definitely going to do well in Fitness/Training/Dancing type of games [it will most likely be able to tell you "you are not bending your back properly" while you are doing Yoga exercises], but the traditional First Person Shooter type of games it's not quite sure how practical it is to point you hands [in the shape of a gun] and go "pew pew pew" with your thumb to shoot..(so hardcore gamers are of course dissing the Kinect due to this, but it's too early to tell to be honest)

The Move in contrast, is pretty much like the Wii, it WILL be more precise than Kinect [for now i guess] , because it just have to detect the controller's movements and not whether you are using your left or right hand or how high you're lifting your knees [something the Kinect can do]. So i'd say the Move "just works" , i'm sure there's plenty of fun, but i'm not convinced it's going to revolutionize your gaming into the future. Kinect imho has the biggest chance to "overturn" the market [even though it is selling well already] with one single game that figures out how to use Kinect fully.

The real clincher should be the fact that you can most likely change channels, volume, menus with the wave of a HAND gesture in Kinect vs. having to hold a "remote" with the Move ....think about it.

its not like you going to be playing this in your front yard, and im sure the PS move makes you look less like a foll :D

.

Corect, however my daughter is very very tiny for her age (trust me she is tiny), *shes 5 and 3 year olds can be taller then and it just picks her up,

I paid R4199 yesterday for a 250Gb Xbox kinect bundle CV Dion Wired Somerset Mall. It's awesome fun. My 2 sons, 8 & 3 played about 10 hours yesterday. I got an extra controller, kinectimals and kinect sports with it for R5500 for everything. Good luck finding a 4Gb kinect bundle.

EA sports Active 2 is also available for PS3, which doesn't require you to hold the move controllers while you use it.

It uses wireless sensors on your arms and your leg and the Move Camera tracks it.

Thats a fail lol, so you still have to strap on something lol.

anyways i feel these threads have been started and many of the same questions asked, it is good although to see that people are giving good answers no flaming and no hating. Something that you dont find ofter when it comes to console wars between the two mentioned ones.

In my option i enjoy Xbox, love it have all 3 major consoles and enjoy my Xbox mainly for my Live and gaming experience, dont get me wrong PS3 does pack a punch and i think that later they can really release the console's full power.

locally putting the above statement into a real world term: Xbox = dual layer DVDs PS = blu ray discs, its obvious you can fit more onto a blu ray hence why later when PS decides to make exclusives they can be longer and more graphical, but thats not the point

iv also got the kinect, love it to bits works wonders for me. for a all time gaming experenve xbox works for me, im not bringing in the media part of this because yes consoles must do more than play games, but same as a cell phone if Ur looking for a better music player get a mp3, for better pictures, get a dedicated camera, so in the media sake if your looking for that get a media streamer or something dedicated to that field

Peace OUt :)
