9/10 on Edge. Looking sharp.
Yeah bud, as has been mentioned, it's hard trying to nail this down as one 'type' of game, as there a few different aspects to it. There is a small rpg component on levelling/equipping your soldiers, base building, r&d and then the 'turn based' action component when you send your squad to engage a downed ufo etc.
But yes, I have played as many clones of this game as I could. That is all of the UFO games and the fan made ones.
I really hope there is a meaninful research tree in the new XCom though. That's largely where replayability would factor in with me.
Good to see. I watched a vid review on youtube last night that gave it 9/10 as well. Can't remember who it was and I'm sadly blocked at work, so I can't link it

MP looks ok, however I feel it will be something that is just tried for a while unless game modes are expanded....
More importantly though, my game is preloaded and awaiting a hack/launch day
I'll be honest though, I aint buying this game for the MP aspect, don't really care much for it, might give it a go, but not really concerned about it.

Kinda like the old Jagged Alliance, but as most has already mentioned, it's kinda got it's own niche' in the gaming order.
If this is anything like the old Xcom games, I will enjoy it endless.
Not to worry this is very much like the old Xcom I grew up with the x-com series as well as made it my mission
to play most of the ufo series as they came along, have seen most of the dev videos and play demo's and
they have tried to stick to the original feel as much as possible while trying to update it and it seems they have
done an outstanding job thus far but the proof is in the pudding and im itching to play this ... as for the MP not
really interested in it at all.

Can't wait for this as well, spent months playing the original. I check on the youtube movie that they did away with multiple bases and you only have one base now, which is a bit sad as having to know which interceptor to deploy from which base also added alot to the strategic element. This spawned a lot of similar games back in the day which I all loved, the isometric view, turn based game play. Syndicate comes to mind, the original fall out games etc. Glad they decided to remake the original as well and not just stick to Xcom fps coming out. Would like to see a Syndicate reboot as well, not the recent fps crap that came out. Bullfrog FTW!
well they also did a FPS of Syndicate which was actually nice but i'd love to see them do a remake of the orig!

Fair enough, I also will be playing the single player first, just thinking you might want to play with the devil you know (kind off) than the devil you don't (ie Random internet guy)
I see GameSpot gave it a 8.5... not too bad.

I have been jamming the old UFO Defense one last week again, stirs up some good memories.
Surprised how much more I struggle now as compared to when I last played it as a young laaitjie.
