What's going on? What changed? I'm in the market for a new phone and I'm willing to spend as high as R6k. For that amount I shouldn't be torn between Samsung and Xiaomi. The clear winner should be Xiaomi. The A33 could be my way back to Samsung after more than 6 years.

mybb expert reviews? "Lol"
I have the pro. No complaints other than battery life isn't great.

Based on talk in the Xiaomi thread, you might be better off getting a Redmi Note 10 instead as the 11 is a downgrade in many aspects.

But recent Xiaomi's are quite good with regards to battery life - I find GSMArena's compare tool nice to compare battery life with (look for 'endurance rating')

eg: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10247&idPhone2=11336#diff-

Also compare the Note 10 Pro vs 11 Pro:

You don't want:
A Mediatek processor.
Glass back
Weaker performance
Weaker battery endurance
SDcard shared sim slot

Note 10 Pro is the better phone overall.

I'd recommend you go for the Note 10 Pro. It's a better phone in most respects than both Note 11 models and you should be able to get a good deal on one, now that the Note 11 is out.

I have a Note 10 Pro and I'm very happy with it

I got it in December last year. Been brilliant with no issues whatsoever. It really is great value for money as a solid midrange phone. As others have said, the spec we get for the Note 11 is a downgrade from the Note 10. If we got the Note 11 Pro+ or 5G version then that would be a different story

Why? Competition is always good.

I paid 6.5k for my Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 pro. Hoping to get at least three years out of it. I had some annoying GPS issues but it's strength is probably it's camera. It can take some good pics and while not exactly on par with the latest iPhone when it comes to camera, a more experienced/creative photographer using my phone will probably capture better images than a total amateur with an iphone.

I'd probably not buy it again if I could start over though unless it's performance starts getting seriously impressive soon. I did update the software a day ago so hoping that resolves the GPS issues.

I moved over after 7 years with Xiaomi, to A33. Like it so far. All I really miss is battery life and the fine tuning of settings, that MIUI does better.

My point was a few years ago you'd could get a Xiaomi Note series phone with the same specs as a Samsung midrange for 50% less of the cost. I Remember buying my Note 7 for R3300 and I was blown away by the value.
